It was stated on the ACC video conference that ALL presidents voted for ND to be invited, as well as all of the terms. I realize it's easier just to blame Swofford, but your school's presidents was just as involved.

I wouldn't expect anything less. :L

My guess on votes for this:

8-4 in favor of deal with FSU, Clemson, VT and Miami (maybe UVA) voting against it. Oh man, if only votes were based on money earned for the conference.....

I wonder if the ACC would have counted a Clemson vote if they were currently under sanctions. Methinks not.

Irony for ACC would be if ND gets picked for CFB playoff over an ACC champion that won league title game.

The BCS bid is not part of the deal, as I understand it but Feldman likes to talk without looking shit up, so nothing new there....

I find him more reliable than the ND homer we have here.

I just checked, ND is in negotiations to be part of the OTHER side of the Orange Bowl but will have no pull for the ACC spot. My source is also a lot more reliable than Feldman as he is inside of the VT Athletic Department.

I find him more reliable than the ND homer we have here.

"We have monitored the changing conference landscape for many months and have concluded that moving to the ACC is the best course of action for us," said Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame vice president and director of athletics, in a statement released by the conference. "We are able to maintain our historic independence in football, join in the ACC's non-BCS bowl package, and provide a new and extremely competitive home for our other sports."

Correct, they only have access to the non-BCS bowl tie-ins. I almost bet that the ACC already has another top tier bowl in the works, such as Cotton, Cap One, Gator or Outback.

..

Well since the thread died down I'll say this: The ACC is a much better fit for ND than the BE, I'm glad we jumped ship on that conference that has been in free fall for awhile now. Although I would have preferred we join the Big Twelve the ACC is obviously the most stable conference for us right now. Two of our really lame rivals are there (sPitt, BC) and it's great we'll be able to start playing FSU and Miami again on a more regular basis. The exit fee kinda scares me though, if we are forced to join a conference I'd rather it not be the ACC...

Anyone know when the ACC's TV contract with ESPN is up? NBCSports is trying to compete with ESPN and they already have a contract with ND, I think it makes sense they may try to make a bid and broadcast all ACC games also...

Is no one in the ACC a little pissed that your auto-bid can be stolen by a Notre Dame with a worse record? They only have to be within one win of the best ACC team and they get the auto-bid over the conference champ.

You guys are really good with that?

The determinants for the play-off are not official. If you think that a 10-2 ND would get selected ahead of a 12-1/11-2 ACC Champion, there's an issue with your thought process.

Someone else remembers the early '80s hosing, eh? Fuck you UNCheat, fuck you John Swofford, and fuck their collective inability to see past their own hyperinflated egomaniacal tendencies.

Sooo....Michigan wasn't ranked when they won a BCS bowl last year? I know you missed some of the ranked teams ND played...but it's cool, I'm too lazy to look back for them anyway.

i guess you missed the regular season part

as for the rankings, those were what opponents were ranked on the day of the game, according to disney...and they are all there

and if you look closer, i didnt bash NDs schedule at all, just pointed out that Smart didnt know what he was talking about, once again

May be weird coming from a Georgia fan... but I am interested in seeing the ND-GT rivalry renewed.

Technically no; ND isn't joining the ACC in football, but in all other sports (except hockey). :thumb:

Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the egocentricities of some here.

okay, looking at the same years, 2011 back to 2007, end of season rankings, regular season

2011
ND - #6 USC, #7 Stanford, #11 MSU, #12 Mich
VT - #22 Clemson
common opponents- BC, Wake

2010
ND- #4 Stanford, #14 MSU
VT - #9 BSU, #25 NC State
common opponents- BC

2009
ND - #15 Pitt, #22 USC
VT - #1 Bama, #13 GT, #14 Nebraska, #19 Miami
common opponents- BC

2008
ND- #3 USC, #24 MSU
VT- #21 FSU, #22 GT
common opponents- BC, UNC

2007
ND- #3 USC, #10 BC, #18 Mich
VT- #1 LSU, #10 BC, #21 Clemson
common opponents- BC, GT

so again i say, pretty good, not amazing, very comparable to VT in this regard....definite not far and above the best like Smart was trying to proclaim...so i stand by my initial point, that Smart doesnt know all that he thinks he does :D
