Self-proclaimed Asshole
Yes, after the fact quantifiable evidence.
Should Wash have sat MY based on what did happen? Yes. Did he know that earlier in the year? No. Did he have history that MY would stay in a season long slump? No. Can we see all of this in hindsight? Yes.
Is Wash a bad manager for not knowing that MY would be in a season long slump based on anything he had history wise? No. MY has been an excellent hitter his entire career. If we roll around to next year and MY is still playing every day, then you can complain. But you can't blame Wash for giving MY the chance to hit his way out of a slump. You don't sit your way out, you hit your way out. Now it is obvious it isn't a slump but something is wrong. MY is hurt or he has lost it. Unfortunately you don't change in September when your team is playoff bound.
Address it in the offseason, and get off Wash's back for now.
We knew how MY's season was going to go in August.
