Ohio State looked terrible for the first twenty minutes. Miami missed a chip shot field goal and dropped two easy touchdowns in the first half. It could have easily been 24-7 Miami early in the second if they could catch a pass. That isn't the hallmark of a great team, or even a good one. Their only saving grace might be that this is the worst B1G receiving group of at least the twenty years, so people might not be able to exploit their weak secondary.

The first 20 minutes? They scored their first TD 1:11 into the second quarter. Dropped passes happen. It's part of the game. Now if you want to talk about "what if" look at the UNI/UW box score.

Have you not seen me freaking out about Wisconsin? If we played like we did yesterday (which luckily won't happen), we'd be lucky to go 7-5.

(Though, to be honest, the box score makes it pretty obvious that Wisconsin was the better team. And to the best of my knowledge, UNI dropped zero passes, and I can only think of one big play their quarterback missed, and they scored anyways that drive.)

It's okay to admit your team played shitty at the start of the game yesterday. I'll be the first to admit that mine looked god-awful virtully the entire game.

Did not say my team didn't look shitty for the first quarter. But not the first 20 minutes. They played lights out for 3 quarters though and I'm very satisfied with the game overall. I do not see a problem starting 6-0 right now. Now I know I'm going to hear it from Neb and MSU fans!

I think tOSU will beat us this year. I'm just not confident in our Defense/Special teams. We do have an amazing offense though. I think we will the #2 team in the B1G behind tOSU.

MSU played a team with a pulse, so they get the nod this week.

lol you husker fans are confusing!

No, some of us are just more down to earth than others. I'd feel better about our chances if it was in Lincoln again, but it's at the shoe, and that's going to be tough to win at.

We all played cupcakes aside from msu and all of us struggled in one way or another. The B1G is weaker than usual this season it seems.

The Big 10 is a joke. I don't know who comes up with the poles, but the Big 10 has no business having so many teams in the top 20. Wisconsin looked like crap today against a Mac school at HOME. MSU barely beat Boise St. at home. Iowa SURVIVED against a MAC school today. Northwestern came oh so close to CHOKING a HUGE lead against Syracuse who tried to give them the game in the 1st half.

Alabama could have scored over 60 points on Michigan easy. The game was over after the 1st quarter.

Nebraska was the most impressive team in the Big 10 today, but the injury bug hit them. We'll see how they do going forward.

Overall a bad weekend for the Big 10. I'm not surprised one bit. The most overrated conference in the country didn't disappoint.

beats losing to them at home like georgia

I went with michigan state and here is my reasoning.

MSU played the better opponent than any of those other teams. And they looked dominant with their run game.

I did not choose Nebraska and here is why. Nebraska did look good, although struggles in the first half they were able to close it out in fashion in the second and football is a game of two halves so good for nebraska on finishing the game. I know Taylor Martinez looked good and statistically dominated the stat sheet. But I feel like we have seen this before. Martinez has a GREAT OOC performances and Nebraska goes into conference play with heisman hype around Martinez and possible BCS talks behind the Huskers. Then a decent defense shows up and Martinez/Nebraska fall apart and struggle the rest of the season.

So....I will hold my judgment on how Nebraska looks till mid October, after they have played some decent defenses.

I can accept the argument it would be MSU because of their opponent but to not see the change in Martinez makes me wonder what game you watched. If you have ever seen him before you know he has changed and not just his footwork. His passes have a zip that prevented interceptions when a defender did get in line. His leadership was unprecedented.

This kid took it on his own shoulders in the off season to rectify his shortcomings not only with his time but with his own money. And it was money well spent. His feet were in position all day, his body (which always made me cringe before) was perfect most throws. H was making his reads and finding his receivers and threading the needle to the ball in their hands.

No I wouldn't expect anyone to jump on the bandwagon the first game but to say you have seen this before. No you have not seen this before from Taylor Martinez.

Agreed. Taylor could have thrown against air doing what he did and it would have been impressive.

Major problems the past 4 years: Turnovers, tackles for loss, false starts, holding, and 3rd down conversions

+1 turnover margin w/ no fumbles

10 tackles for loss (most since 2010 texas A&M game w/ 13)

0 false starts

0 holding

2 penalties - 30 yards

3rd down coversions - 80%

Sharp.

Also 4-5 red zone trips resulted in a touchdown.

10 different players (yes 10) caught passes and each of Taylor's 5 touchdown passes were to a diff receiver.

26-34, 75.5% completion, 354 yards. QB rating of 212.46

Voted purdue :puke: because they decidedly beat a weaker opponent whereas the rest of the B1G struggled at one point or another against some poor competition.
MSU did play someone with a pulse but they're a much weaker team then last year. I look forward to ND playing them instead of fearing it like I did before this weekend.

And both penalties were pass interference resulting from aggressive play. One offensive one defensive. I'll take a couple of those any day. It means your players have passion.
