Was out all night with the wife but got home in time to see the bottom of the ninth. Just a few observations from the stat lines and 9th inning:
1. Derek Holland outpitched Justin Verlander, thus continuing his cycle of teasing us with how brilliant he can be one game then letting us down with a poor effort the next. So frustrating that he has that much talent but still hasn't figured out how to consistently use it. Still, a great performance is a great performance and can only be encouraging.
2. Cabrera and Fielder are two of the fattest slobs (albeit very talented ones) in the game. First one to diabetes wins!
3. Mike Olt showed just why the organization thinks of him as a vital building block for the future with that great at-bat and every one in the stadium except for one thick-headed manager took notice. Mike Olt's game-winning hit just means that MY should get more playing time to Wash.
4. The powder blue 80's throwbacks and old caps looked sweet!
