You just used Ortiz to make your point about Murphy and Martin and I'm the one bringing weak sauce..??? :pound:

That clearly went WAY over your head. Scotsman asked for an example of a lefty getting to start at DH against a lefty and I provided David Ortiz. That backs up MY point, not yours. Wow. My point is that a better hitter, regardless of what side of the plate he hits from, should start over a righty who isn't very good. That is what David Ortiz is an example of. That is also an example of what David Murphy is.

Go take a look at which hitter has the better average against lefties, Murphy or Snyder. Go ahead. I'll wait.

David Murphy is a major league player. Brandon Snyder is not. David Murphy is a better hitter. Period.

Those are not dumb opinions. Those are facts backed up by stats.

You're using one of the best left handed hitters of his time to make a case for Murphy and don't forget you said MARTIN. That's why you're point is getting dumber with each post.

Thank you. That's my point. It's stupid to try to make your case for them by pointing to someone like Ortiz.

I never said they were. I was simply pointing out that the better player should get to bat. Martin vs. Snyder is debatable, I'll give you that. That's more of a personal opinion because outside of the 3 HR he hit in May, I've never seen Brandon Snyder do anything worthwhile. Martin on the other hand has a higher upside and more tools. Again, it's debatable and certainly without insults.

Murphy vs. Snyder is not debatable. Murphy is a solid major league player and has been for some time. Initially he struggled against lefties. He has been much, much better lately. This season he has a better average against lefties than Snyder does. Murphy's history with the team and ability to come up with clutch hits would have him starting over Snyder who is nothing but a fringe player.

So far feldman has done a nice job of jamming these left handed hitters

Yeah, he's put up a very admirable effort so far. He's obviously not part of the rotation plans and for good reason, but if he could give the Rangers the occasional solid spot-start and long relief appearance, he would prove to be useful. It's too bad that tonight's performance has been the rarity with him this year.

I definitely keep my fingers crossed when he pitches. Btw are you watching this game on Espn?

He was so important in the ALDS. I just think that's a role Taylor made for him.

No, on FSSW. The cookie talk gets old on FSSW, but the national broadcasters on ESPN tend to show too much love to the Red Sox for my taste. I'd rather listen to Rangers homers than Red Sox homers.

11 of 33 for .333 is slightly better than 13 of 40 for .325. i'll give you that

I agree. He's looking good tonight, but when he's not locating that cutter hitters can usually get to him the 2nd time through the lineup. As you said, perfect for short stretches. The Feldman we're seeing tonight is the one we saw in the playoffs last season.

I'm just not a fan of Brandon Snyder. I'll leave it at that. I know that the alternatives such as Murphy at DH or Leonys Martin aren't exactly sure-bets either, but I just think Snyder is a spare.

Maybe he'll hit a HR or come up with a clutch play and prove me wrong. If it means the Rangers winning, I certainly don't mind eating a little crow.

The announcers mentioned Profar and Olt and what their doing at Frisco. Even showed some hightlights of Profar. Rick Sutcliff said that right now Profar would start for over half of the major League teams

the word is that the Rangers are looking to beef up their bench so he's probably going to be gone soon anyway

Yeah, I would say that is definitely their #2 need. The last 2 World Series showed us just how important those bench bats are. I still have nightmares of Esteban German batting against the Cardinals.
