We knocked the crap out that ball just hit two right at them.
Their were some encouraging signs. Rocker coming back with a solid game. Latz showing he can be a fine long inning guy. Carter still healthy. Semian continuing to get comfortable in the 4th hole.
The big one for me is Cole Winn
Is time to give him a shot to close?
Or should he be the 8th inning guy.

Winn is a great example of why you have to be patient with young guys. Of course, they won't all pan out, but none will if you don't have patience with them.

Thank goodness. Thing didn't go Winn's way as both men who got on base didn't hit the ball hard but gave up nothing even though the last out was the hardest hit ball. That's the way baseball go.
About time he caught a break

From Shawn McFarland:

The Rangers would like Kumar Rocker to continue his development in the minor leagues. The needs of the team, though, trump all.

“The needs of the organization outweigh the developmental necessities right now.”

Both goals were satisfied today.

I think the current situation shows why you don't ever trade serviceable starting pitching unless you have a legitimate replacement lined up...

So will Latz be the 5th starter for awhile or will they bring someone up from the minors like Dunning or Bratt for a spot start or 2 or do they make a trade???

They released Garabito so he can pursue other options so there is an opening on the 40 man roster...

Dunning has been with the team the last few days, I believe.

Dunning should be starting since he has done well in his last number of starts at AAA.

I am surprised they did not roster Dunning

That makes the most sense but who knows what they have up their sleeves, he last pitched on the 8th so he should be well rested...

From Evan Grant:

Josh Smith is the AL Player of the Week. You know things are going good for an offense when a guy wins the award & didn't even lead his team in any offensive category that week.

From Texas Rangers PR:

This is the first time Smith has won the weekly award and the first time a Texas player has claimed the honor in 2025, as the club had one winner last season: Marcus Semien for May 6-12, 2024.

Smith batted .423/.500/.796/1.269 (11-26) with 2 HR, 3 2B, 4 RBI, and more BB (4) than SO (2) over 6 G last week, leading A.L. batters in TB (20), H (tied), and XBH (tied). His 1.269 OPS was the 2nd-highest mark in the A.L., trailing only teammate Evan Carter (1.434).

Smith recorded 5 consecutive multi-hit games last week from Tues.-Sat., as his 6-G multi-hit streak (incl. 6/8 at WAS) marked the longest such streak by a Ranger since Andy Ibáñez’s 7-G run from Aug. 20-27, 2021.

For the year, Smith is batting .288/.357/.443/.799 (63-219) with 7 HR, one 3B, 11 2B, 20 RBI, and 32 R. He leads Rangers hitters in H and R, also ranking highly in SB (2nd, 8), 2B (3rd), XBH (4th, 19), and HR (T4th). His team-leading 6 G of 3+ hits this season rank T12th in the A.L.
