I see your argument. But it probably cuts both ways when the OTHER team has a 16 inning game the day before.

I keep thinking of all the sabermetric work Eno Sarris did on trying to find the “clutch” trait. He did exhaustive work on RBIs and seemed to conclude it’s just random. That seems right to me, but I dunno.

I mostly agree with this, but then I think of this #forevergiant guy, Edgar Renteria. Based on my zero research, I feel like with 80% of the population it’s right. But there’s something in our dna in that other 20% that has clutch or suck.

I know most baseball nerds like us hate it but I really have zero problem with it. Never liked boring ass regular season 16 inning games. Wrecks bullpens for what? So they can play a game in front of 3000 fans at 12:15AM? And they don't use it in the playoffs exactly as they should, THAT'S where.16 inning game belongs.

I have become more “OK” with it over the years, but long ass extra inning games were part of the marathon aspect of baseball. Blowing out the bully was one of the potholes in the road that teams had to deal with during that marathon.

When the NL adopted the DH, I knew eventually I’d be ok with it and I am. But I seriously doubt I’ll ever be ok with Manfred ball. I’m probably on an island.

Matt Chapman begins the day 2nd among NL third basemen with 2.2 fWAR. Manny Machado (2.4 fWAR) leads in that category with Austin Riley (1.4 fWAR) currently in 3rd place.
