These rule changes are pathetic & I dont see how that will help the pct. In fact if they get more chances at Onside kick since they dont have to wait for 4th qtr. The pct will probably go down. Not up.
let onside kicks be the way they were before all this dumbassery. Its a specialty play now that has to be reported before trying. So you arent gonna fake onside kick. No one was getting injured on an onside kick. The NFL loves overthinking stupidity.

Problem with the onsides kick is that they messed with the standard kickoff in the first place (and continue to mess with it more every year it seems). Can/will they go back to the original model? Probably not, as they are pretending to care about player safety.

I think the one yard might be another demarcation that it is indeed on onsides kick and not a standard kickoff. The overall alignment would do that, but I can't think of another valid reason?

There are so few sure things that it's crazy. I recall Chase Young being touted as better than either Bosa, that wasn't close to a good evaluation. How about Clowney, a once in a generation talent, again not close. My point is every draft pick with a few exceptions are just that, a project and rarely a replacement. Mostly because replacement means you're trying to replace a good or great player and that usually doesn't happen. Yes you can argue the semantics of my definition of replacement, but the point stands that they're all projects and some work out and some don't.

I generally agree that you don't replace franchise players. I do think some prospects should have expectations to start earlier than some other prospects based on age, experience, play weight, etc.

To my knowledge, Myles Garrett was actually the highest rated Edge prospect in recent memory but Clowney and Young would be 2 and 3. Nick Bosa was very highly rated, though. Him Quinnen Williams and Kyler Murray were all in their own tier and honestly could have gone in any order without too much shock (although positional value should have always had Williams 3rd)

I mentioned awhile back that I thought Clowney was around the 7th or 8th best player in his class when all is mostly said and done. He was a disappointment but still significantly better than most NFL draft picks.
