In NC it was traditional to keep the kids awake. Who thought of this? Satan?

Oh sheesh. My first couple of years here the kids pushed pretty hard to stay up all night. Now they seem much more chill. My group though is one I have had for 7 years now so they don't feel as attached to the idea of pulling an all-nighter. Plus sports practice/work in the morning really changes your outlook compared to when you were in 7th grade at a lock-in.

My daughter had her senior prom this past week end. What the high school does is what they call an "After Prom" Parents raise money for a year and buy a plethora of prizes. Kids that commit to after prom come in and spend the night there playing games, bounce houses. slides, poker, mechanical bull...etc etc etc...all of which somehow generates tickets for them to put in whichever prize basket they would like, and free food. At the end of the event names are picked out of each basket to determine who won that prize. 55" TV's, Mountain Bikes, kayaks, Blue tooth speakers, iPads, coolers, grills, electric tooth brushes, luggage... Prom was from 7:00 - 10:00 so after prom went from 11:00pm to 5:00am. My wife and I volunteered, after of course going to Nashville for the photo shoot...Then, of course, my daughter was scheduled to work at 7:00 am to noon. No way I was letting her drive on no sleep, so I did, with the idea that I would go home after dropping her off and grab a few hours then go back and pick her up. Didn't work quite that way.

So next weekend is her graduation. Why Prom is so close to graduation I don't know, beyond my paygrade. But my wife wants a floor in the sunroom prior to guests showing up. I started that on Saturday, got all the prep done for laminate flooring and got the first three rows in before leaving for other duties...chauffeuring for photo shoot, dinner with wife etc...and got back to it on Sunday. Sunday with no sleep.
Haa. Every time I clicked a piece in, the last one would unclick. If the last one didn't the one two prior would. I tried for about an hour and I got nothing done. Fuck. I haven't been back there since but tonight I will. wish me luck.

Oh, and now the front door handle has come loose and is stripped out of the door. A problem from the previous owner or original installation.
Now the wife wants a new door. Prior to guests showing up.

Fuck. I'm still tired.
My kids' senior prom is this weekend. Graduation is at the end of the month. No bribes for staying sober or abstaining.

A new pain in the ass situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of sudden, my 2013 Toyota RAV4 has decided to become a snake. It has 131,3000 miles on it and paint on the roof and passenger doors is just bubbling, peeling off and blowing off the car as I drive. Now the peeling has started on the driver side doors. Too old for warrantee. I'm heading down to Daytona and going to see what MAACO would charge me for a strip and repaint.

Local bodyshop said thEy'd do it for $7500. A local guy who would take off the first coat of white with a special razor and guarantee the paint job for 10 years wants $8000 and said that he charges for labor and base cost of paint. The less time it takes, the less it will cost.

The truth? The car, if it was perfect would be worth about $9000. Right now, maybe $5000. No way in hell I'll pay $7000-$8000 for a paint job on a 12 year old car. Hoping that MAACO can do it for $3000 or less.

Otherwise, I'll sand the car with ultra fine 200 grit and spray it with Rustoleum. Just paid off the $75,000 I borrowed for the pool over the past seven months and the wife won't let me trade it. Then again, I don't want a five year car payment at my age.

Go local, keep trying until you find someone who doesn't treat you like you should feel privileged to be part of their cash flow process.

Recently my daughter was rear ended by a fellow track kid after practice. His car was damaged a bit more than mine. I got together with his dad and we went to a shop I had experience with, and they didn't listen to me and fired off a quote that I thought was too high. The other dad was fine with it. I went to another less frills shop and the guy listened, then gave me a quote for less than half. Other dad followed suit and both cars came in at less than the first quote for his car.

So many shops have sold out and "Gone Corporate". Once that happens everything is dictated by the insurance companies.

We had an employee park a company truck next to another employees POV...Personally Owned Vehicle...As he was getting out a big gust of wind snatched the door away from him and it bumped the POV. Put a really good scuff and a minor dent. The kid wanted his truck fixed. It had been his grandfathers, a 2wd 1998 Ford Ranger 4.0 5spd in absolute mint condition and about 35k miles on it. I don't blame him.

So we went to the nearest body shop, one of two that I had previously done business with, or a family owned two body shops and I had done business with the one on the southside. Well, they had sold out. The estimator that was there first thing he asked was "What year"? '98. "We can't touch it" What?
He proceeded to say, anything that old they cannot touch. Insurance will stop doing business with them if the do ANYTHING to a vehicle that old. I said what about a 2011 Ranger? "Oh yeah we can work on that." But it's the same thing!! Doesn't matter. Insurance companies dictate. If it has any real damage, it's required to be totaled.

So we went down the road to another shop that hadn't sold out and he said sure. Dolly to take the dent out and buff the white paint from the company truck off.

I personally think it's part of a larger agenda to;
1) Force more people into vehicles that can be tracked and immobilized and otherwise controlled
2) Force people into electric vehicles.

That was about the time they were trying water-based paint on cars. You can see how well it works!
If you paint over the water-based paint it may peel off worse. Drive it like it is or sell it. Just my opinion.

Drove down to Daytona MAACO and got an incredible full price guarantee. They'll strip it clean, remove the prime. Put a new prime, paint it a new pearl white glitter, seal it and guarantee it for 8 years. $2400. I left it there and should be able to pick it up in two weeks.

They showed me a Camaro that had just been painted the same color but didn't have the sealant. It was incredible and they showed me a coffee Honda that had the sealant ..................breath taking. I wish I could have changed the color.

Been back in NE since Friday I can tell you people already have a love affair for Will Campbell, but most that I have chatted with so far are really hyped about Henderson.

I am good with how things worked out. I was on the Jeanty train but heard later that when Vrabel and the Pats staff met with all the O linemen at the combine they all looked to Campbell for guidance. A lot of them are kids that just met him for the most part, short of a football camp here or there, and he was their natural leader. That's pretty impressive.

I also would have been good if they took Jeanty and then Ersery (the first OT in the 2nd round) or traded back up and took Conerly (the last OT taken in the 1st round).

But I think Vrabel and Company did the right thing.

Wow that seems odd the coaches would turn to a potential rookie, but I guess it makes sense, it provides a sense of where the kids head as at. I really see Henderson as a Kevin Faulk role, where as Jeanty would be an all purpose back. My train of thought is that skippy wanted that Faulk type back for his scheme. In then end I just hope it all works out.

July visit. Are you taking a flight or a drive? Just an FYI 81 was smooth sailing 84 had some congested areas. Still beats 95 though

I drove the east for years doing my job(s).

You're correct. 84 through Conn. to 90E. is much, much better than 95 through NYC.

Once you get to Worcester, MA, take 290N to 495N and save yourself another 15 min.

If you want a real relaxing drive, Get off 290 to the 190 exit to Fitchburg and get off in Fitchburg and take 13N to Milford, NH and get off on 101 to Manchester. Stay on 101 until you hit 95N in Hampton. Then it's 95N to wherever you want to go. Maine toll is now $4.00 in York. You can get off on Rte. 1N before the toll and take the original first U.S. Highway all the way to Bar Harbor. Otherwise you'll pay a second toll in Gray, ME.

All the Oline players looked to Campbell as their leader. Did I write in some confusion...?

I have read a lot of articles that Larison will be the Faulk type. Maybe one is a white and the other a Faulk!!

DRIVE!!! I hate airports anymore. I love the being in the air part of flying, but I abhor the being on the ground part of flying. My wife a different story. She hates the drive. So my daughter and I will do a road trip.

Thanks. Great to know. Probably 40 Nashville to Knoxville TN, 81 to Scranton PA, 84 to Sturbridge MA, then 90 East to greater Boston area. Depending on what time we get there, visit family in Cambridge, Head to Woodman's for fried clams or go to Logan to retrieve my wife and then go to Woodman's. Have to get a lobster roll too. Or two.

But I may try 78 outside of Harrisburg PA to 287 in wherever NJ to 87 to 84 just because I have never been on 78. And my daughters never been in NJ.

I worked in Wilkes Barre PA for 4-5 years and the first couple I traveled back to VT every weekend. Then when I got transferred to Norfolk (Lived in Va Beach) the first year I traveled back to see the hussy I was dating (fucking). The I got transferred to Fishkill NY and my former high school sweet heart/then girlfriend/now wife stayed in Va Beach so I travelled back and forth there every weekend... I know all of those Interstates very well...except 78.
Depends on what Google suggests as we are rolling.

Woodman's is not debatable.

When I fly anywhere, I fly out of Atlanta. Atlanta really sucks. No parking and long walks. I would rather drive 6 hours to Raleigh than to take a 1 hour flight that takes all day.

Nashville has gotten almost as bad.
There used to be paid parking that would shuttle you to the airport and pick you up for less than the cost of long term parking at the airport. They did huge business then all of a sudden they were gon. Now the only option is hugely expensive short term or incredibly inconvenient long term...and both are expensive and inconvenient.
And the walk to the gates is just getting longer and longer.

My sunroom did not have a finished floor when we moved in, just a rug. This past week we changed that. My first time putting laminate floor down. I had to remove the electrical raceway and outlets first so the flooring could go almost up to the wall. Turned out better than expected considering we bought the cheap stuff. I got the raceway reinstalled last night and am about to do my least favorite part...rewiring the outlets.

Hate electrical.

I have a contractor friend that hated - even feared electrical work.
He was plumbing my Raleigh house while I was standing on my bed , hot wiring a ceiling fixture.
He was horrified when I shorted the hot and came running in to find me calmly continuing.
I told him, you get used to it.
He now has an electricians license - and I'm still alive!

Easiest way to do it is to leave the power on, when you make a mistake - you'll know it!
I have been shocked many times.
110 volts is nothing unless you are grounded.
240 volts, pretty much the same.
12kv hurts and can blow your kneecaps of fand burn all your organs
19kv was off a neon sign transformer and it got my attention
The biggie? I got hit by lightning in 1982. That was exciting!
