Because the narrative last year that they tried to force into reality was the Chiefs will be the first to 3 peat.
The refs...league... got egregious and showed their hand too early which effected what they could do in the SB.
This year they will take a more measured approach.

I'm just glad the Chiefs with the season they were having didn't pull it off to win it all. That was one of the luckiest seasons I have seen from a team. They never blew anyone out and somehow at the end the ball always bounced their way. I doubt we see another season like that in a long time where they go something like 11-0 in 1 score games.

That wasn't a long conversation with Manning usually bowing out during the first playoff game.

Hey now...I mean are we going to talk about who had the better playoff record when they went head to head? Or how things played out later in their careers with Manning winning 6 of the final 11 matchups against each other?

Or we could talk about how Brady was 1-3 against the Broncos in the playoffs and that he had his worst overall record against the Broncos compared to any other team in the league.

It's a team game, but with a large sample size patterns emerge. Manning had great stats but he was prone to meltdowns. While Brady wasn't exempt from them, they were rare.

To be the GOAT you needed to win when it mattered most. Say the playoffs aren't the only metric till yo are blue in the face, I mean it. Keep saying it because it's true. But playoffs are a big piece and Payton just doesn't compete in that part of the GOAT race.

Finally - can you recall Brady blaming his teammates? I know what you are thinking, he didn't blame because he was winning, but he did lose some and only his wife was pointing fingers (and that was ugly).

Bad day for Bean Town. Sox get curb stomped and Cs go down 3-1. Looks like Tatum may be done with what looks like a possible Achilles injury. Waiting for confirmation.

Feel for Tatum as Achilles injury usually takes a full year of recovery especially in basketball. So this injury will take him out for next season as well.

Yes, very unfortunate. 6-18 months.

I stand corrected.....................Jim Irsay died yesterday afternoon, peacefully in his sleep. Not last night.

Next Sunday is June 1st................................

What is a post-June 1 designation in the NFL?

If an NFL team doesn't want to wait until after June 1 to reap the rewards of cutting a player, they can release up to two players per year with a post-June 1 designation. This allows the player to immediately release the player while keeping his full cap charge on the roster until June 2.

At that point, the player's remaining dead money is spread over two seasons. The present dead money charge for the player will be comprised of his prorated signing bonus for the current year along with any guaranteed salary owed to him. Then, the remaining prorated signing bonus will be accounted for as a new dead money charge at the beginning of the next league year.

For example, the Jets would carry a $49 million dead money charge if they release Rodgers during the 2025 offseason. However, if they designate him a post-June 1 release, his dead cap hit for 2025 would shrink to $14 million, per Spotrac.com. The Jets would then account for the remaining $35 million of dead money on their 2026 salary cap.

Another example: the Atlanta Falcons would carry a $65 million dead money charge if they release Kirk Cousins during the 2025 offseason. However, if they designate him a post-June 1 release, his dead cap hit would shrink to $40 million in 2025 (stemming from his $27.5 million guaranteed salary and the $12.5 million of his prorated signing bonus) while the team would also absorb a $25 million cap hit in 2026, stemming from the $25 million remainder of his prorated signing bonus.

Neither has been released........................................................yet.
