Oh agreed. And that is why I included Manning on that list. They are looking for every advantage they can get to help them win a game. I can't blame them for that. I do hate watching guys like Lebron flopping in the NBA to get a call though making it look like someone just tried to murder him. To me that is going to the extreme and hurting the actual product on the field/court.

The NFL equivalent today to me is QB's waiting until the last second to put a defensive player in a bind about their slide or what Mahomes does acting like he is running out of bounds to then cut it back leaving a defensive player in a difficult spot to either get penalized for hitting him at the sideline or allowing Mahomes to escape for a big play down the sideline. I get that it is an advantage that the league has allowed, but to me it hurts the actual product we are watching.
Having been a pro, I'm all for doing anything you can to get an advantage.
I often had protests logded against me and I'd laugh and say, You're just mad you didn't think about it!
Amatuers are different but pro need to do everything!

I don't blame Mahomes for what he is doing. I blame the NFL for not making the rules more clear when it comes to protecting a QB. I personally would get rid of the slide rule. Make QB's have to really think when they take off knowing a big hit could be coming their way. And I also wouldn't have penalties for when a QB gets hit outside the pocket.

In the NBA players constantly flipped their head back on any contact. Maybe there was a foul, maybe there wasn't, but the perking motion is a lie. Nobody views it that way, but if you are touched without enough force to do that, but you do that anyways... what else is that other than a lie?

Problem is they all do it and it's become the norm. Lying is the norm, sheesh.

I do blame him, it called poor sportsmanship. I never liked Kyle Lowery in the NBA for similar antics but Lowery is on an elite level. I think their should be a five yard penalty for a late slide. It just messes with the intent of the rule and it's going to get Mahomes hurt.

I like that idea of a late slide penalty. But it will never happen and would be difficult to officiate it.

Simple rule. "QB must slide no less than three yards from an oncoming defender." Quarterback running at full speed sees a defender coming at full speed, better get ass on the ground at least ten feet. Gives the defender time to alter his course and direction. Fair is fair. Go down three feet from a frontal assault and you pay the price of trying to stretch the limits.

That's why I propose five yards. A slide has to before a defender engages. If it isn't then flagged. I think it was in the '98 playoffs, Slash Stewart feined going out of bounds and Ted Johnson could have clobbered him but instead eased up. Stewart Juked back in bounds and ran the sideline like 40 yards for a TD (if I recall all this correctly). That just might have set a precedent for Drew B almost being killed.

I never had an issue with the DB hit.

I'm actually surprised the Pats are rated as high as that.
I can wait and decide how good they are based on the 12/31/2025 standings. As Parcels ranted: You are what your record says you are.

We used to measure by championships. Now they are chasing relevency.

I wasn't talking about the Patriots. More about the Chiefs being #1 Power team after having their asses han ded to them in the Super Bowl and barely getting by three teams in the AFC playoffs. So their #1 WR is coming back after a torn up knee and he's not a question mark, but Diggs is? And Hollywood Brown had his chest bone cracked and now he'll be super WR? The Eagles tore down the offensive line and Reid immediately got rid of Thuney as the scapegoat. It wasn't just Thuney. Oh yeah. The Chiefs at #31 draft Josh Simmons, the greatest college LT ever and everyone else was just too stupid to draft him.

C'mon man......... The Eagles should have been #1 in any preseason Power ranking.

Couple of other things.....

Steelers traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys yesterday for a 2026 3rd Round and a 2027 3rd Rounder.

Jacksonville Jaguars will be releasing Gabe Davis. 26 years old, 6'2" 225#
Played for the Bills and Jags.

Should the Patriots bring him in, or even try??

Because the narrative last year that they tried to force into reality was the Chiefs will be the first to 3 peat.
The refs...league... got egregious and showed their hand too early which effected what they could do in the SB.
This year they will take a more measured approach.

Welcome to the club. My first memories as a Broncos fan are John Elway being the QB. Every year the Broncos were competing to at least make it to the Super Bowl. Even when he retired there was still a bit of a window the team looked good. Then of course Manning every year was Super Bowl or bust. Now I've reached that point of please just be relevant in December where the games actually matter. Hopefully that thought process won't be future thoughts with Nix being the guy. Same with Maye. Would be fun to see those two start having the old Brady/Manning who is the best in the AFC conversation.
