Neither team benefits. Pittsburgh loses a much needed receiver, Cowboys receive a locker room cancer to go with a lousy head coach.
PGH benefitted. He wasn't getting paid here, and the Steelers aren't winning shit this season. So he was gone anyway after 2025. This way they get compensation to use in the draft next year.

It remains to be seen if he works out for Dallas, but the track record of traded Steeler skill players is long and really bad.

They would have likely gotten a 2027 3rd round pick anyway when he resigned elsewhere. So they’re getting that pick one year earlier and they lose one year of on field play. It’s essentially a lateral positioning unless they can find a way to use the 2026 draft pick to move up and get their targeted QB in 2026. It remains to be seen if this was actually an improvement.

That's hopefully the plan. So far they have a decent stockpile of picks/projected picks. Not having George around might see them win less games so they're picking higher.

Getting the pick earlier is important if they want to be able to draft the quarterback they want. The draft being in PGH next year makes for a nice story, too.

Can blame Vontez Burfict for this. When he almost decapitated AB that started the downward spiral of diva WR's for the Steelers. And the fact the Steelers still were able to get any value for them. :D
Thought it really started with Wallace? AB was already on his way there - Burfict just...gently tapped him that direction a bit faster...LOL

Can include over the hill Russel Wilson, the Tittie Kisser and running back Justin Fields in the conversation.
Why do you say "The Tittie Kisser" like that's a bad thing?

Nah it is all Burficts fault and I am sticking to that story. :D

In 2017 the Steelers paid him a lot and if he was already gone by then he would have been moved instead of being paid. Not denying he wasn't already going that route but hits like that helped to speed up the process.

Not as impressive as the Browns, but we're getting there.

Actually kinda started with Santonio Holmes... Dude had a very angry exit after a nightclub incident that pushed the Steelers to trade his ass.

But I don't recall anything bad with Wallace. He wasn't a diva. He held out temporarily IIRC, missed training camp and preseason. Didn't get the contract he wanted from PIT, and played out the final year before hitting FA and making a boat load from Miami.
