I’m glad I came here before I hit play on the DVR. Sounds like I saved myself the grief of watching another entire game with awful offense. I’ll tune in Live I guess.

After a good start reality sets in with this bullpen. Most of these guys we signed were just average. Milner and Martin have been decent. Again the Pederson signing was a complete waste and prevented us from getting a legit closer.

The Rangers now in fourth place in the division.
This team is reeling right now. IMO this is because of Bochys misuse of the lineup, the signing of Pederson when that money could have been used for a closer or 2 very good relievers and the teams shocking lack of power.
I am sure there is more but those 3 tidbits stand out to me

Can't be overstated how bad the Pederson signing is at this point.

Agree with the relief signings.
Hope Peterson pans out. But no good so far

The best I can tell, if Evan Carter spends 40 days of the Rangers regular season in the minors, they can gain an extra year of control over him. It is usually 16 days, but Evan got 24 days credited to him at the end of 2023. I believe that means after 40 days of the regular season he would have his service time delayed enough to keep him under control another year.

The Rangers don't typically worry about such things, but Carter has already had a year of control wasted with him hurt almost the entire year. If they are planning on that then the 40 days are up on May 5. If they bring him up right after that date we will know why. Let's see if they activate him on May 6.

From Ken Rosenthal:

Rangers demoting 1B Jake Burger and promoting 1B Blaine Crim from Triple A, sources tell @TheAthletic. Plan is for Burger to “reset” and return soon.

Something tells me the Rangers are close to making a significant roster move. Maybe it will happen after the early game today. I sure hope so, anyway.
I am glad it was Blaine Crim.
