This pitching has been superb for the most part. It’s ahead of the 2023 team at the same point of that year. Remember how much Chapman put us on the edge our seat with blown leads. Grant Anderson and Brock Burke we’re bad. Sborz was terrible until Bochy brought him back late in the year. Then Sborz was great in the playoffs.
Eovaldi is the only starter back from that team. Degrom only pitched 30 innings until his TJ surgery. We traded for reliever Stratton but he was very mediocre. The Montgomery trade may have been the move that put us over the top.
Of course the hitting was much better that year.
Think this team has a chance to be better especially with the pitching. We now have a healthy Degrom, and a healthy Mahle. Eovaldi is still stellar. Also an improved Jack Leiter and a young and upcoming Kumar Rocker. The bullpen is way ahead of the 2023 at this point of the season.
If Burger comes around which I expect him to do and Langford stays healthy the hitting should be fine. I like Smith a lot. He is a much needed spark this offense needs. Harris is showing promise. Crim could still be called up too to help offense.
The team could still make a trade at the deadline for an outfielder if they feel Carter can’t return to his 2023 form.
Think your right DT this team should win a lot of games.
Milner has been a pleasant surprise.

Garcia had 1 strike thrown to him and he struck out. We have got to quit getting ourselves out so much.

Mahle lights out again with little help from the bats.

From Shawn McFarland:

Tyler Mahle has a 0.68 ERA through his first five starts. That’s the lowest in baseball.

It’s also the lowest *ever* by a Texas Rangers pitcher through their first five starts of a season according to Stathead

Rick Honeycutt (0.72 ERA in 1983) was the previous record holder.

From Jared Sandler:

Only three pitchers have been good enough to complete 7 innings versus the Dodgers this year

DEGROM
MAHLE
Luzardo

Tyler Mahle and Jesus Lazardo are the only two SP this year to go 7.0 IP shutout innings versus the Dodgers.
