What makes him intriguing to me. Is that literally every physical tool he has is Josh Allen level. And this is the perfect situation for him. Dak has a new 4 year deal and a HC who is a good friend. No reason for Dak to feel threatened, so he may help pour all the knowledge he has into this kid. That happens, he's an all pro. If it doesn't...it's a 5th for a 7th
Certainly a better trade than when they went and traded pick #73 for Drew Henson.

to be fair.
I was excited about drafting Claiborne.
I didn’t love Claiborne before the draft but I loved the fact that they loved him enough to make the move and then followed through and did it so I too was excited. They swung and missed but I’d rather they show balls and go get the guy they want than just be passive and sit around and wait and hope their guy falls or even worse trade back and think he’ll still be there.

I’ve said it a thousand times. You win championships with stars. We need a couple more and if we aren’t going to pay for them in free agency we need to find them in the draft. The idea that there are 10 guys all rated the same is just totally not true. It only comes from fans who look at different mocks and see different players listed in different orders. I guarantee when we are on the clock at 12 that Will McClay doesn’t think there are 10 guys ranked about even for the next best player.

I was shocked when they traded up for Claiborne.

I had reservations on him mainly because he did not have the speed. I still thought he would be a good player though

He seemed to always be on the injury report. Always some nagging injury going on the entire time he played for the Cowboys.

That's right. If Will wants the player he thinks is the best on his board at the time, I am ecstatic. Stack great players

I had kind of just ignored this signing of Saahdiq Charles, but I looked into him a little more. I look at it like a lot of our other moves. By itself it's a good move. We really are doing a great job with the bottom to the middle of the roster. I'm struggling to be happy with our moves because of how we have again totally ignored bringing in talented players who will help us to actually compete for anything meaningful, BUT, these are all nice add-on type guys. I keep saying it, but even just one stud player added to all of these pieces makes this offseason an "A" instead of a "C". These players just aren't going to make us good enough to win our division let alone a SB. If it's a 3 year plan, then fine, but that gets back to my comment about not judging the coaches on this year. You can't expect them to win unless you give them the talent.

But getting back to Charles. There is little to no risk here (like many of the other moves which is why I like it so much) and no guarantee he even makes the 53. He is a potential depth guy with a slight chance to be the starter at RG if he does work out. I read some articles from last year and it looks like he was the favorite to start at RG for Tennessee when he surprisingly retired for personal reasons. Why did he retire? What kind of shape is he in physically with a year off and also mentally? Well, that's why you get a guy for an easily cuttable low risk vet minimum contract. FYI - he's 25 years old. Same age as Hoffman and younger than Bass. So, again, not exciting, but a good move IMO

I agree
Had they done more of this type worl last season, we might not have gone 7-10. They have done a good job of at least making all the holes adequate, with the exception or WR after Lamb, though I'm guessing they consider Mingo their roster churn there

what...So is Jerry and Stephen adding these depth pieces and thus reducing the requirement for 15 draft picks?
Nice to see Jerry leading the charge and putting the team together with the coach speak of competition throughout the interview process.

Onward Jerry.
You da man now.

I had no problem with it when they did it, but obviously, it backfired big time as Claiborne was a bust. He was a good prospect, just dumb as a brick
It was just the Cowboys bad luck. Claibone was seen as the top can't miss corner in that draft. I was not mad at them doing it. But I bet somehow if another team had done that, he would have been a star. That was one payment to the devil for those Superbowls.

Yeah, it's one of may things that might have been. If he had been Champ Bailey, It would have changed our fate. Like Jaylon Smiths injury, Sean Lee's injury, Fredericks injury. Hopefully, Overshown can break the cycle. He is going to be an All Pro

Welp, we all knew it was a possibility about Diggs not being ready for the start of the season, but if they are saying it in April (and right before the draft), you can pretty much put it down in ink. If we don't come out of the draft with a CB early, Mike Hilton is out there. Plays the run really well. Not really going to play the outside more a slot guy but does it pretty well and cheaper than Lewis which fits right in with this teams desire to never spend any money on anyone. You could play Elam on the outside with Bland and Hilton in the slot until Diggs is back. Not great, but probably would be better than we are at some other spots. Then if Diggs doesn't miss a lot of time you have Diggs and Bland with Hilton in the slot which would be much better than we have at a lot of other positions on this team. I'm very interested in seeing Elam. I think he is going to be better than people think. But, that doesn't mean I'm going into the season relying on him if I can help it either...

I have this recurring thought of Jerry finally finding his ballz after over a decade and deciding he actually wants to win another SB and trading up into the #3 spot with Hunter still on the board and just when everyone is ready for him to solve both our CB issue for the next decade and our WR issue next to Lamb, the Commissioner says the name "Shedeur Sanders" and I start to cry and turn off the draft...

The Cowboys rave about how Overshown works as hard rehabbing his devastating knee injury as any player they have ever have. He tore the ACL, MCL and PCL and has gone from original prognosis of missing all last season to now possibly making it back in the first month of the regular season. You hear the exact opposite about Diggs. The team was very upset with how he rehabbing his last injury and theres whispers out there thay it's the same thing all over again this time. I think if the Cowboys spend #12 on Will Johnson or on Barron then Diggs may be a cap casualty next summer

I did not hear that at all about Diggs this time  . Where did you hear that? That would be really disappointing if true.

Hopefully Diggs is playing for his 2026 and 2027 salaries this year both from a quality of play and an effort perspective. But, with Dallas coaches and the Jones Boyz, we know that seldom if ever happens with young big names. If they take CB at 12 that will be, as they say, a shot across the bow (or maybe even a kick in the balls). Moving forward with Bland and a young CB would be a nice way to set us up going forward and using Diggs salary to pay for Bland would make it very cap friendly as well. Also, Diggs would be a guy we could trade for a decent draft pick next year and wouldn't just need to cut which would make it a double benefit.
