Dawn Staley is a real one. 5 kids drafted last year and undefeated national champs. Best coach in the women’s game.

Super classy as well. Not many coaches would give the kind of shout out she did to Clark the way she did during the celebration. Most coaches give the generic "congrats to the other team on a great season" platitude. She went out of her way to congratulate Iowa and praise Clark for what she's doing for women's basketball

Isn’t the bolded college coaching though? A big piece is recruiting. She built her program from the ground up and earned all that talent. We didn’t do this with Geno or Pat Summit when they had the most talent on the floor every time out.

Loading up with talent is all coaching.

Getting the talent to work together as a team is coaching.

Preparing talented players to be successful pros is also coaching.

That isn’t true at all.

Just different.

New rules bring new challenges.

Transfer portal makes it harder on coaches for sure. Player not getting the minutes they want right away?

They gone.

Makes it a lot harder to get players to buy in to team culture because they don’t have to be nearly as invested as they were under the old rules.

You adjust with the times or quit. Or move on to the pros.

It's a personal decision each coach has to make. If they do not like the current state of college athletics.

I can’t believe I am watching women’s basketball. Hopefully Iowa wins. Great start

The question is does this breakthrough year where lots of people that never watched or cared started watching and caring...will it carry over once Clark is gone? I suspect it will drop back some but probably not all the way back. The women's game is making real progress IMO. Will probably never be equal to men and that's not even necessary.

This game exhibit 1A as to why over-relying on team accomplishments in individual player greatness conversations is wrong.

South Carolina is soooo much better than Iowa at every position but 1.

Caitlin Clark is the only reason this game is close.

But I think these 2 teams play 10 times, SC wins 9.

SC so much bigger too, dominated the boards
