They will finally pay the piper next year though. Whether it be in Chubb or Conklin etc. Eventually paying your qb costs you some guys.
True. I don’t know why one would overpay a RB though. For me this is a no brainer. I value Conklin over Chubb for next contract. RBs don’t age nearly as well as OTs do. The replacement cost is much lower at RB as well. RB is a position where you can justify getting 75% in savings while only giving up 10-15% of the production that would have been realized by the more expensive player.

They will pay Nick this year. So much will depend on how he plays

Again...the only running back in NFL history to average 5 yards 5 years in a row. That's nuts. But an ACL later....prob not the same guy.

His second acl tear

He destroyed one in college too (and my fantasy season with him….)

Not to mention the top rbs are not always first rounders

Yup.

I think hurts can be the guy. And they can use his deal to move around

But the real window is before that contract

Years 2-5 really
I would argue that once you have the QB the whole thing is the window. It’s hard to win. Mahomes and Brady have rewritten expectations. For everybody else, if you want to win 2 Super Bowls in a decade, you need 7-8 legit playoff teams in those windows you can take a swing with. Football is too tightly contested a game and they don’t have playoff rounds with series. It’s one and done.

Odds and data aren’t on your side with a RB on the back end. Browns are better off leaving well enough alone. I get it. You’re a fan and you’re looking at a great football player you don’t want to see him move on. Now he’s coming off a knee AND you have that data of what these guys will be on the back end? If you have to choose between OT and RB, you need to go OT. Bad franchises will make the choice for the sexy more recognized player from the fan base. Not good.

Brady took less money to make it happen

What other qb has done that?

Plus he never won without a top 10 defense

Brady got his money. That’s a fallacy. Brady would renegotiate yearly to kick his cap down the road. Each time he did that he got more up front money which is all that matters. Mahomes has essentially done the same thing. His ten year deal allowed them to push salary to the back end. Now it’s time for Mahomes restructures and as long as the Chiefs aren’t cheap, they’ll give him more upfront money to kick the cap down the road. The NFL cap is a mirage. If teams want to spend more on their team than the cap they can do so. They can spend much more. Eagles are blessed to have Lurie who is willing to do that. Also blessed to be in a market where the numbers make sense to do that kind of investment.

I don't think Conklin will be the same either fwiw.

This is almost assuredly the last year Nick is a Brown.

at a certain point it is like....Mahomes do you NEED 70 million or whatever? Can u take 40 and keep players around ya?

I get it's easy for me to say give up 30 million but more money than God is a different level

Brady realized tomorrow is never promised and he worked like that in the off season. Despite being the best he was fueled still by being a 6th round pick. That kind of guy realizes, take the up front money now.

It’s also nice when your ex wife was still the primary bread winner despite you making NFL QB money haha.

I think Caleb props this group up

And the Steelers aren’t getting 1-1 either way

None of the 2025 guys would crack the top 3 this year, and only Sanders could crack the top 5 IMO.

Guys will emerge during the 2024 season, but that's difficult to predict and projecting a season like Daniels' is foolhardy.

...and you play well into your 40s. How many of these kids even want to attempt that?

Baker Mayfield got a 3 year $100 M deal. I had a feeling that’s about what he would command. Deal could reach $115M and $50M is guaranteed. Good for him.
Guessing not what he wanted to accept but good deal for both parties....and if he can finally put multiple good seasons together will be young enough to cash in again.

Haven't seen it, but guessing years 1 and 2 for around $50 mil then 3rd year he either gets the amount he wants or they can get out of it.

Yep. I was saying that is about what he would get and that fast forward moron was saying he would get more like 20 mill.

He basically got what Geno got a few years ago.
don't recall the FF comment but he got more than the $25-28 mil per I thought he'd get. Not a crazy amount more.

First year $30 M fully guaranteed. $10 mil guaranteed each of the 2 following seasons
