My whole point being if the Hawks POV is moving off Murray and getting draft compensation and expiring deals then they'd be seeking a bad team to deal with.

Maybe LA loops in a bad team to fit the bill on draft picks but what are they getting in return then?

My entire premise is looking at this as Atlanta thinking they could pair Trae with D Lo (which btw is an absolutely horrendous defensive backcourt) and get draft comp back.

But giving away Murray for some weak firsts seems pretty insane.

He's a matching, expiring salary that can provide a skill to the Hawks for the remainder of the season. If 2nds are needed, I'm sure that's not an issue. This would be in lieu of DLo, along with JHS, a future 1st and a pick swap (reportedly).

a worse first rounder and a swap and JHS?

Well.....the trade didn't work out with Trae and Murray so now they are moving on. And they probably aren't getting flooded with offers that are blowing them away so....

Better go get something and move on.
