It's not really a robbery. Murray is becoming overrated by a lot of people. His defense is not near as good as people think it is. He is not a good shooter. He's shooting well from 3 this year, but that's an outlier. If you look over the course of his career, he's anywhere from a bad to below average shooter. He made 1 all star team putting up stats on a bad team, its not like he's an all star talent that keeps getting left out teams because the league is full of talent (think Mike Conley in his prime). He's really just a marginal upgrade over D'lo, mostly because D'lo is prone to some very low IQ passes and decisions that ruin the offense at the worst possible time. If anything, the deal might be a little steep for the Lakers. A 1st round pick with limited to no protections AND a swap is a bit much.

But yeah, even if the deal isn't a robbery and more in line with fair value, Philly should have pieces to top it. Or they rightly view Murray for what he is and have concerns with him pairing him with Maxey

I imagine the pick would have protections, if not fully lottery protected.

I view Murray a bit higher than you do, as he was a much better player before he got shoe-horned next to a ball-dominant player like Trae. Sure, Lebron is still ball-dominant, but that time will draw to a close (and the Lakers are trying to relieve some of that burden).

expiring (the reason they don't want DLo - or at least one reason - is his player option)
Gotta think if he gets dealt he would be willing to decline it and become a FA to go somewhere he wants to be.

Yeah, I think James would be willing to defer to Murray a little bit if they added a player of his quality.

Exactly

Like I said, dinwiddie and Joe Harris the best salary matches for players who teams don’t care about and are expiring.

Harris is actually a better fit IMO, as he can spread the floor better away from Trae? No defense though...

Depends on his market this summer. Is anyone going to pay him more?

The Lakers have been a lot of talk concerning taking burden off of Lebron, but not much follow through. That was the intent with adding Russ, then DLo...

And neither of those 2 fit the bill really.....I think Murray would.

I wonder if this means money or picks

Caruso is an intersting fit there

Murray costs a lot less than lowry and they don’t have great matching salary beyond that

Bulls have been denying that Caruso is available.

so they're trading An asset on a good contract for expiring deals?

...and draft compensation. Murray just signed an extension (kicks in next season) and the Hawks are squashing his value pairing him with Trae. They're approaching the 2nd threshold with Capela extension eligible next season and need to make changes.

I imagine they would consider adding the right piece for a better fit, but not many trades are value for value.

Is that Detroit' fault or his? He shot 42%+ from 3 just last season. He's only getting 10 mpg, tough to get lined up.

you do realize Detroit RECEIVED 2 2nd rd picks to get him right? lol

Now he's going to land someone Murray?

Come on fam

if he does it's solely to fill salary. He's borderline unplayable at this stage for anyone with any kind of aspirations.
