Is Ben Johnson a leader?

I love how Kyle stalks the sideline and chews out refs. I know that doesn't equate to leadership, but after watching Ron just stand there with his arms folded for four years, I'm ready for a coach with a little bit of fire in his belly.

I've seen Slowik get pretty amped. I'd like to know if Ben has it in him to get after someone. Could Ben handle having a Martindale in the building?

These are things I hope Peters looks for in the interview process.

Given the choices here, this response will serve a dual purpose in that I'll answer a previous question asked by @dad and answer the question presented in this post.

1. If the QB choice is Daniels (or to a lesser degree Williams) then the new head coach has to be Bobby Slovik (my choice) or Ben Johnson. Why? Both QBs present the prospective head coaches with the greater upside in terms of being more creative concerning their skills. In the case of Daniels, who is the best QB in this draft, the things that a creative offensive mind can do with those talents are off of the charts. Defenses will have to account for his superior improvisational skills, extending plays, and ability to burn them with his legs. Btw: scoring more becomes a premium with either of these guys (more so with Daniels) and the overriding dependence on defense lessens.

On the other hand...

2. If the QB choice is Maye, the 4th or 5th best QB in this draft (or to a lesser extent Penix) then the new head coach has to be Raheem Morris (my choice) or Mike McDonald. On second thought, flip a coin, either will do. Why? Both of these guys are primarily conventional QBs whose skill comes with delivering the ball on time. Although both CAN run neither offers the threat to opposing defenses that the previous two do and as such both become almost instantaneously easier to defend and likely reasons to lean more heavily upon our defense to turn the ball over more or win games.

Slovik or Johnson = Daniels or Williams

Morris or McDonald = Maye or Penix

My choice = Slovik and Daniels

I'm on record in the Lions forum saying Aaron Glenn will be a better HC than Ben Johnson. Although I think both will be good. Ben Johnson is a good play caller, but the better HC attribute is his flexibility and adopting to what he has to work with.

Glenn reminds me a lot of Mike Tomlin. Unflappable and his players love him. But as laid back as he is 98% of the time he's got some fire in him too. If you're looking for the next hot genius that's Johnson. If you're looking for flat out the best leader I think Glenn has to be a serious consideration.

Vrabel is scheduled to meet with the Chargers. Word out of Tennessee is he got into it with the GM.

I don't think it is a knock on Vrabel, I just don't think he fits the way they want to build the organization.
