Maybe... and maybe losing breeds malcontent, finger-pointing and blame-shifting.

Probably some of both.
Absolutely.

Ham has not been great.

Neither has Dlo…

Neither has Hayes….

Neither has Austin until recently….

Injuries, blah, blah, blah…

They had expectations after making the WCF.

Maybe those expectations weren’t realistic.

Wasn't a lot of people saying they won the offseason? That's what make their struggles so weird considering James, AD, & AR been healthy

Yeah... Christian Wood especially should have known what he was getting into when he signed with the Lakers, though.

Making sure a guy like him gets consistent minutes is and was always gonna be waaay down the list of considerations.
Maybe.

But he believed it.

I don’t think he would grumble if he wasn’t losing minutes to an absolute slug in Hayes.

OJ Mayo is another case of a kid being called the "Next Lebron" and he couldn't adjust when he wasn't the best player on the court by leaps and bounds.

He was horribly overrated in high school.

Watched him play AAU a couple times. Watched his team get run out of the gym by Tyreke Evans.

Mayo got rated so high because he was physically mature and skilled as a 15 year old.

When his peers caught up physically, Mayo wasn’t all that anymore.

Many of us said the Lakers would be a terrible fit for Wood before he signed.

Proving to be true.

Yeah they had a good defensive group & good depth on paper. The only thing I would have question in the summer would have been 3 pt shooting but everything else did look good

Why do I keep hearing Rondo’s name mentioned as a Ham replacement?

The biggest issue has been injuries which has led to guys being put in positions and playing minutes that weren't intended for them.

Wood has mostly been fine offensively, but on defense, he's a sieve and Ham puts a lot of emphasis on defense. Hayes is the opposite. He's been fairly solid on defense (although he's a little light in the ass), but offensively isn't good for much more than a couple of alley oop dunks.

If they could make 1 player out of them, he'd be a perfect back up for AD. lol

He was pretty disappointing at USC too. If memory serves, he was, at the time, the highest ranked recruit they had ever landed. But he never lived up to the hype.

I was surprised that he was drafted as high as he was.

Man, Tyreke Evans was a local kid from Chester PA. Got mixed up with drugs and really screwed himself. Tried a come back a few years back but couldn’t get it back. His brothers were crazy agent types when he was in high school and college. Meddled too much for him. Sad story all around.

Yeah, that was kind of when it started becoming apparent that he wasn’t supremely athletic.

At least not on the level that his hype made him out to be.

He had pretty much the same body at 15.
