Actually I think any team out there willing to trade for him should fire their GM. The Pels will rightfully want a lot in return for him. But right now he's not worth it.

Always depends on the price.

He isn’t worth some team giving a ton of assets as if he were a true franchise player.

But at some price the upside is worth the risk. Players can change, especially if they get around the right locker room leaders.

Would have to be the right situation and it would have to be as a 2 or 3.

Pippen was the number 5 pick in the draft. The Bulls also had the #10 pick that season.

Krause deserves a lot of credit for building that core. Cavs weren’t picking in the top 10 3 years into LeBron’s career.

But also, it isn’t a fair comparison.

There were 23 teams in the league that year. 16 out of 23 made the playoffs! There was no such thing as max contracts and players literally did not have the same opportunities that todays players do in terms of agency and movement.

You ask players from that era, and if they are being honest they will tell you they are jealous of the power that todays players have.

Making the playoffs isn’t the end goal. More than half the league makes the playoffs.

Did Sacramento improve by trading for Sabonis?

Clearly yes.

But I said it then, I will say it now.

Indiana dominated that trade. Haliburton is a franchise player. And he is young.

You can’t trade young players with superstar upside for vets who aren’t superstars.

Better to swing for the fences and miss than to lock yourself in as a perennial 2nd tier playoff team.
