Cleveland has to catch lightning in a bottle to win it all. they have come close several times but their best runs were back when the Financials were closer

It's pretty easy to see in my own team. Detroit went from one of the worst teams in baseball history in 03 to the world series in 06. Smart trades and a committed owner. So we are year 7 in the rebuild in Detroit because his son is a cheap fuck.

In no other sport does location and owner matter more. As you pointed out Billy Beane won fuck all in the playoffs despite completely changing how people saw analyzing talent

Actually in no other sport does luck matter more (except hockey). The baseball playoffs are almost perfectly random. Your regular season record has almost zero correlation to who wins it. Beane had a lot of small sample size bad luck

playoff wise...sure...there's a lot of randomness that the NBA especially doesn't have. But to consistently perform you need the funds to do so.

No doubt you have to make good decisions also....but if you're just in a constant reset phase it's not sustainable.
