What am I missing in ND/OSU? I’m thinking the wrong team is favored here.

There’s no home field advantage at ND for a big game like this. ND stadium is a shit ton of blue hairs who sit on their hands for the entire game. On top of that between ND fans with season tickets and ticket brokers, history says 35-40% of the stadium will be red.

I think OSU has a distinct advantage at WR over the ND secondary. However, that’s somewhat mitigated by OSU’s spotty OL play especially at the tackle spots vs ND pass rush. Still not convinced McCord is a dude. And this is his first road start. OSU hasn’t been able to run the ball against mediocre competition and ND plays the run really well. Football becomes easier when you can make a team one dimensional. McCord having to throw 35+ times in his first road start should be advantage ND.

ND’s OL- put up or shut up time. They seem to be more physical this year with the OL coach change and getting away from Harry Hiestand finesse OL play. OSU is very talented on defense though so this will be a battle.

I think the difference is Sam Hartman. He needs to be smart and protect the football but if he’s protected there are plays to be made off of play action. Estime is a beast of a man. They need to feed him 20+ times if for no other reason than to grind clock and keep OSU and Day’s offense off the field.

I’m going to say ND 34-27.
This is news to me. I thought when the line came out ND was favored by 3. ND should be favored, they have like a 6th year QB and they are at home. They have the more experienced team. Mccord has started 3 games and they lost 3 starters on their OL. If Ohio St somehow wins this it's going to be the defense and running game that breaks through or Harrison or Egbuka get big chunks. Ohio St will have to run the ball to win this game and I don't feel confident in that at this point but they have the talent on the OL, just not the experience. I don't feel great about this game.

Hard to tell if Mccord is going to be great like previous Ohio St QB's bc he is 3 starts in...but I remember watching Stroud in his first big game vs Oregon and he looked BAD. I didn't think Stroud had what it takes and I was totally wrong. There is no way to tell at this point.

We'll see how good Sam Hartman really is.

Don't get me wrong... he has been fine so far, and certainly much better than we've had in recent history.

But I'm not sold that he's "compete for a National Championship" good yet... he is short and kinda has a noodle arm.

Gonna be a big test. Ohio St has more talent, but we've got the QBing edge (theoretically) and we're at home (better than being away, certainly).

I mean.. They're due. It's been 87 years since they beat OSU

But lock of the week? lol

That might be your Fandom talking
That’s only like 6 games though because Woody Hayes was a gaping vagina who refused to play ND when he wasn’t punching players for the opposing team.

ND has the best qb but that’s it, that’s why Ohio St is favored. I have Ohio St 38-24.
I think ND has matchup advantages:
ND run vs OSU front 7
OSU run vs ND front 7
ND QB vs OSU QB

I think the only glaring mismatch is OSU’s WRs vs the Irish secondary. Some of that is mitigated because I think ND will be able to get pressure with only 4.
