Came across an interesting stat/bit of info stat today about Burrow that I've never seen discussed anywhere is how absent he is in the 4th quarter of playoff games. He has played 7 games in the post season thus far in his career including the Super Bowl. Only one time in the 4th quarter of those 7 postseason games has he led the Bengals offense to scoring a TD. That one time too was with a short field where the offense started the drive with the ball in the other teams territory after the defense forced a turnover. In fact the Bengals defense has scored as many touchdowns in the 4th quarter of Bengals playoff games as Burrow has (1). Other than that Burrow has led the Bengals offense to 4 field goals in the 4th quarter of postseason games, all 4 coming in separate games.

So as much praise as he gets, he hasn't really shown up in any big ways in the 4th of playoff games.

1) FG

2) FG

3) FG

4 (Super Bowl) 0 points

5) 0 points

6) FG

7 (AFC Championship Loss) TD

Compare that to Jalen Hurts in the 4th quarter of postseason games and we have:

1) 2 TDs and a 2 pt conversion

2) TD and a FG

3) FG

4) TD and a 2 pt conversion
Easy stat an idiot like yourself can understand

Hurts 0-1 in the Super Bowl
Burrow 0-1 in the Super Bowl.

That's the only stat that matters at this point. Carry on princess.

I'll admit RTK's tears are quite delicious at this point... :heh:

I mean honestly. I've never seen a guy take a loss so hard. He may be suicidal...

Well, you didn’t really “see” it as he avoided this forum like a bitch for two months after the Super Bowl loss.

Eagles had a better backfield? Mixon is a far better RB than Miles Sanders. I'm sure many on this board would take the Bengals WRs over the Eagles WRs. Fact is that in the playoffs Burrow doesn't produce a lot of points and hardly does in the 4th quarter of postseason games. Meanwhile Hurts puts up points in the 4th and puts up a lot more points over the course of a game than Burrow does in the postseason.
It's fine. Hurts is the next coming of the Messiah, we get it, and I would be disappointed if you didn't rep your guy. However, I don't care who is better, as I like Burrow better, I like that he is an Ohio kid, that he has turned this franchise from worthless to worth watching. He inspires, he motivates, he is accurate as hell, he is a competitor and he is one of the best leader of men in the NFL. I will take Burrow any day, and yes, I am a homer like you are Hurts. You ride your guy, we will ride ours, and at the end of their careers we will see.

Your stats are eye opening about Burrow, but when I watch the game, I never feel it is Burrow not coming through, more like our Oline not coming through to give him a breath before he has to make a decision. I am extremely impressed with Burrow's performance in the playoffs and we are always in the game. Granted, we didn't blow out a couple teams like the Eagles did this last year, but I would have much rather had the Giants and a QB'less 49ers team to play as well, versus the best team in the last 5 years (Chiefs) and Buffalo, who many expected to be the SB favorites. AFC is stacked out the ass this year, the Eagles have who in the NFC? San Fran, Seattle, Detroit maybe, Cowboys? I mean the Giants could be good, or they can still be a very average team that had a good record like last year. We will see what happens in Washington.

All of the real hard teams minus a couple NFC teams are in the AFC.

Buffalo
New York
Miami
Cincinnati
Baltimore
Cleveland (don't laugh, Cleveland is going to be a pain in the ass this year)
Pittsburgh
Kansas City
Los Angeles
Tennessee
Jacksonville

As this exercise shows of 4th quarter performance and PPG in the playoffs its clear that Burrow has benefited greatly from the play of his defense.
You on crack? In 2 of the 4 games the Eagles defense only gave up 7 pts in each game... The Eagles won 38-7 (28-0 at half time)and 31-7 (28-7 at end of 3rdQ) in each of those games...Much easier to play with a 20+ point lead in the 4th quarter, thanks in part to the defense...

Burrow one of the best in the NFL despite being considered the unluckiest QB in NFL by PFF.

I don’t even know how an outlet like PFF could judge such things without being privy to every aspect of a play. PFF is some fugaze football analysis. How would they know if an interception occurred on a play that Burrow should have checked into another look and because he didn’t coverage was there when it wouldn’t have been there on another audible or a check down that should have been taken?!?!? They don’t. And yet they still step out with this stuff.

I disagree. I think going into the season there are three teams in the top tier. I’d be surprised if one of these three isn’t representing the NFC in the Super Bowl:
Eagles, Cowboys, Niners

From there you have some squads that if things break right and they get good answers to their question marks could find a way into that mix:
Lions, Saints, Seahawks, Giants

Tougher projection surprises:
Rams, Packers, Redskins

So whose left?
Not much. Your point is sound
AFC > NFC right now. I don’t think anyone can argue otherwise. The AFC just has more depth. This is shown when you stack up where the top QBs in the league are playing these days. You’d have to say 7-9 of the top 10 are in the AFC depending upon most people ranking QBs.

I wouldn’t put the Cowboys in the same category as the Eagles and Niners - I think the Eagles and Niners are the best 2 teams, then you have teams like the Seahawks, Cowboys, Giants, maybe the Lions and Saints, maybe the Bears. No idea what to expect out of teams such as the Packers, Falcons, Commanders, Panthers and Rams, and I think the Cards, Bucs and Vikings are the weakest of the NFC teams. If I had to rank a team at #3 behind the Eagles and Niners I would choose the Seahawks.

I kind of go the other way. I think the Niners are the one of the three that’s unsettled at the QB spot. Let’s see who Brock Purdy is when the league’s defensive coordinators had a whole off season to study his tape and prepare for him. Additionally, let’s see how he is off of his surgery. The Eagles and Cowboys are much more solidified at that all important spot. You could argue any of those three have one of the more complete rosters in the NFL. The caveat to this is that Shanahan has an established track record of making his offense work despite having some rather pedestrian players at QB like Jimmy Garrapollo. I don’t think the Seahawks have the roster that those other 3 teams do. I think there’s concern over whether or not the Seahawks defense can get the stops they need. When they see more complete defenses their 28-30 PPG offense could lag. Can their defense win in a game that isn’t a shoot out? We will see. That’s why they play the games.

I have a few questions about the Cowboys offense - I think Dak is a pretty good QB but he can be inconsistent, and they’ll need someone to step up alongside Pollard at RB, I wonder if he’ll be as productive with Zeke gone now, at receiver Lamb is really good, Cooks is good but aging and Gallup is decent but injury prone. They will need someone to step up at TE to replace Schultz as well. And I just never trust the Cowboys a whole lot for some reason. I think the Cowboys have a lot of talent but they aren’t as good as the Eagles/Niners IMO. With the Niners, I think Purdy is as good as Garoppolo, maybe better, and they made the Super Bowl in 2019 and the NFC Title in 2021 with Jimmy G, although how Purdy bounces back from injury remains to be seen, and the Niners are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, I think they are better than the Cowboys on both sides of the ball.
