I missed Nassib coming out. I think he was a Syracuse guy? I was remembering Sam. I don’t think he ever made the club as a 7th round pick.
He did, but it is pretty disingenuous to place that as the reason he was gone from the raiders shortly after. His last year with Raiders he played 30% of the snaps and averaged .5 qb pressures a game. He had similar numbers the following year with the Bucs.

His percentage of plays did halve, but that was Maxx Crosby coming alive and signing Ngakoue

Jaguars assistant comes out
Jacksonville associate strength coach Kevin Maxen came out publicly yesterday in an interview with Outsports, becoming the first publicly out male coach in major American men’s pro sports. Read his comments on the historic moment here.

Sam was with Rams, Nassib was with Raiders….
Sam was never good enough for the NFL & Nassib didnt lose his job with the Raiders for being gay. That was a Cap thing. He signed 3 yr 25 mil contract played 2 of those years. Final season played 13 games & zero as a starter. Of course he was moving on.
2022 BTW he played for the Bucs. So not like he got ousted for being gay.

Good for him. It seems like a long time ago there was a story about a Gay Chiefs OL during the Pioli years that planned on committing suicide when he was out of the league. He thankfully did not do this.

It's good to see people feel more comfortable being open about this.

Yep, there's for sure many gay players and coaches that still don't feel ready to announce it, one day they probably will.
