Wasnt murray a guy a few years back everyone said wasnt good enough to win with? as your #2
Some people actually said it a few days ago when Miami won game 2. Talking about Jokic needs better players and he can’t do it alone and Murray is too inconsistent to be a number 2. That’s absurd.

Didn’t notice it here, but the Realgm basketball forum and some of the YouTube video comments were saying it.

So you've got nothing to add to the conversation, got it. There was nothing dumb at all about that post, it's the truth. MJ isn't the GOAT simply due to his play on the court. He revolutionized the sport to heights it had never seen before, made it global.

He was part of making the game global. He didn’t do it by himself.

You are basically saying that nobody in the future can touch him because the game has already grown to the point where it is global.

When in reality, NBA completion is far greater today than it was in MJ’s era because of that.

So if someone comes along who completely dominates a more competitive landscape, they have to pass MJ.

I was the biggest MJ fan there was. He was my first favorite player and I watched every game on WGN.

But you got to be rational. Trying to make MJ some type of untouchable diety is really lame.

Still feel good about their chances. Would have been more concerned had they been hitting shots and they still lose that game by 15. Just got to hit shots and try to make things harder for Murray. I expect it to be a best of 3 series by the wlend of game 4

Denver was always going to win 2-4 games in this series by a comfortable margin.

They are better.

Miami just has to get all of the close ones. And they are capable of doing just that.

He built on what Magic/Bird started in terms of building the game. Obviously the Nike deal had a huge impact, as did all the championships well into the cable TV era. He had endorsements and commercials beyond any previous player.

He certainly had his negatives too.

For sure.

But that was as much about his timing as it was about his greatness in the court.

I don’t choose to let that factor into GOAT status. That is completely beyond any player’s ability to control.

I must say actually watching Jokic 48 minutes for the first 3 games of this series confirms what I said all along in the regular season.

I am always going with Jokic over Embiid. The guy is amazing
Yep. I’m there now. Last night the Nuggets were very strong contesting at the rim and Jokic was a part of that. Embiid hasn’t figured out how to impact playoffs. Jokic > Embiid

That's because people have been underestimating Jokic for so long. Now that they actually see what he does, Murray is fine as your #2 (and he's healthy and thriving).
Jokic's a monster.
He improved. Players don't remain the same players they were 3-4 years ago. They also added Gordon who is now the 3rd best player imo
No I know,. I absolutely know. I forget who it was, but they basically were parroting that Murray NEVER could be that guy. I wanna say it was the pacers or cavs fan

Imagine if porter actually was having a good series.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Lebron with a passion, but I have him #4 all time. MJ, Magic, Kareem are my top 3. I acknowledge his greatness at the game for sure though. His personality is what kills it for me supporting him. I just read an article today on CBS Sports about how he and Kyrie are hijacking the attention to the finals to themselves and that was exactly what their intention was.
You could have just said that from the start.

You have extreme bias. Nobody that ACTUALLY watches basketball and knows the game doesn't have MJ and Bron at 1 and 2. Plain and simple. You are right to have your opinion but it doesn't mean it is right.

So you are just as biased being from Cleveland then as well, there is a valid case that Kareem and Magic were better than Lebron as well. My hatred for Lebron has nothing to do with his ranking, I despise Tom Brady too but acknowledge he is the GOAT qb.

If the Nuggets play the rest of the series like they did last night the Heat are in trouble.

And NJ's 30/20/10 game last night. Was kinda surprised to hear nobody had done that before in the Finals. Figured Wilt had done it.

Nah. MJ and LeBron are 1 and 2.

Eh.

So what?

What to coach intentionally puts themselves in bad situations?

Coaches tend to take the best job available to them. One where they think they can succeed.

Because if they don’t succeed they get fired. Whether it was their fault or not.
Since the game happened I'll limit my comments on this topic but will say what also happens if they don't succeed is they get exposed, which Phillip was smart not to chance.

Lol

Teams dont get outrebounded by 25 nightly or shoot 37% from the field nightly. Nuggets still only ended up with 109 points.

Also cant see Bam/Jimmy going 18-45 again

You know who listened to Krause?

Reinsdorf.

It was a different era back then. Players didn’t run the league.

Why would Phil stay in a job where his direct boss didn’t want him there?

Most people wouldn’t want to work in that environment.

And so what if he took a year off?

You are dinging him for really petty stuff while assuming that MJ, Kobe, Shaq and Pippen would have still achieved similar success with another coach because they were that great.

I don’t assume that.

Coaching talent with huge egos is very hard.
It's just my opinion that to make my top of the top list of coaches I'd like to see a coach show he can do more with less. Phillip hasn't done that. Not a requirement for you (or others) and that's fine.

Krause asked him back for 1 year to coach a stripped down team while working with someone (Krause) who had treated him like crap and whom he didn't like. No one with options is sticking around for that.

Also, as any coach would do, he waited for the best possible situation. Nothing wrong with that.

You're criticizing him for doing what any coach with options would do.
Last comment for now on the matter as I'll talk about the game....stripped down? They were losing Pippen. Curious...do you think he stays if they run it back with everyone? I do, which would mean if things could remain easy he'd put up with Krause and his antics.

SAS continuing to act like Bam is some role player is hilarious
Cannot say I've heard it (and have seen him talk quite a bit between games). While Bam is not elite, he's at worse a borderline all star and better than a role player, for sure.

Last night at the start of the pregame show, he said denver got 2 stars while Jimmy is Miami only star and the other guys are role players.

Bam made 2 all star teams lol and Murray made 0. Not saying Murray isn't a star but to say Bam isn't one is crazy

Yes, stripped down unless they were somehow able to replace Pippen with an equal player and Kukoc wasn't it.

If he would have come back if everyone else did doesn't mean he wanted things to be easy.

They would have been trying to win a 4th straight title with an aging roster which would be far from easy.

I get it, you don't like Phil. That's fine.

Criticize him for not being better at X's and O's, or that his ability to manage massive ego's is overrated if you want.

But every coach in any sport at any level, looks for the best situation he can get. No coach wants to take over a team that lacks talent. Those who do, are coaches who lack better options.

Criticizing Phil for doing what any coach with choices would have done is pretty weak.
