Sorry, that is not true.
As a die hard Vols fan, I wouldn't draft Hooker unless it was the 7th round. He runs a gimic offense. I watched every Hooker snap while at TN...he isn't worth a pick before the 7th round.
I love Josh Heupel but he runs an up tempo/spacing offense. Hooker simply had one read, a check down or scramble. The offense is based on speed and spacing. I love Hendon Hooker as he was special, but I would NOT want the Commanders to take him. TN doesn't prepare offensive skill players for the NFL. Everything is based of tricks and schemes for the offense.
"Hendon hooker is operating this theoretical offense where you're only ever reading half the field," continued Monson. "And it's not even a full half-field read where you're working through a progression. It's just an either-or concept. Like you have a crossing pattern of some description, a route concept that goes against the defense, and all you have to do is decide 'do I hit the left guy or the right guy?' It's not playing quarterback. It's doing something different."
"So when you're looking at Hooker and saying he can be QB five (in the 2023 NFL Draft) -- which a lot of people are -- it's because he's got prototypical size more or less. Because he's got speed, because he's got all the tools. But projecting what he's doing in college, from an offensive point of view, to what he's going to have to do in the NFL is barely even worth attempting because the offense is that absurd. So if you're using like, touchdown to interception ratio, you're just wasting everybody's time because that's irrelevant."
Gotcha!!!My point is I don’t like any of these QBs. Rather use a second on Hooker than a first on anybody else.
Gotcha!!!
I love Hooker and hopes he wins the MVP.
I just don't see it. Reminds me of those old Hawaii offenses where they put up a million points.
Colt RIPYep and I still would have loved to see Colt Brennan get an actual shot over Jason Campbell.
I could live with that. It looks a lot like mine where you said Torrance won’t make it to round 2.
Most mocks don’t have him making it to 47I could live with that. It looks a lot like mine where you said Torrance won’t make it to round 2.
1- Witherspoon
2- Torrance
3- Jaelyn Duncan
4- Henry To’oTo’o (really happy if he is there)
5- Fehoko
6- Strange TE
6- Deuce Vaughn
7- Derrius Davis

Hooker is a great college qb and an even better human being. I wish him nothing but the best.I follow the Vols as well since we thought we were going to move there. I could not agree more about Hooker, he was a product of the system.
I read those mocks Dad posted earlier, why don't any of those writers even mention BSJ? All they talk about is Fuller as if he's the only decent corner on the roster.

That being said, he was a 24 year old qb playing college football in a gimmic offense. It seemed like half the tennessee tds come from busted coverage. Kinda like playing back yard football and snapping the ball while the other team is trying to man up.
How many tds were simply wide open throws due to confusion in the secondary? These were not pump fakes or looking off defenders: it was 100% scheme. Same thing with Joe Milton, like hooker, he was awful in his previous school. He transfers to Tennessee and becomes a top qb.
Hooker is probably one of the least prepared qbs in this draft class because the scheme he mastered is not nfl compatible. Can we learn an NFL offense? Maybe, however, he has zero experience with the skillset that separates good NFL qbs from the rest.
I hope I am wrong and he throws 60 tds his rookie year. I will gladly eat crow and go back for seconds.
Thanks. Took some work and I don't like losing back to back 1st rounders then again, I'm not burdened with paying those 1st rounders down the road either.good haul
I see your logic however, I don't have to pay the '24 and '25 1st rounders down the road either which we are running into now with Young, Sweat, Payne & Allen. This draft addresses areas of need and depth. This draft nets 3-4 starters this year with both Henley and Williams likely to see the field in year 1. RB Abrahim, my last pick had a fantastic bounce back season coming off 2021 achilleas at MINN with 1600 yards and 20 TD's. I love this draft! Not a fan to be honest. It is a philosophy thing. You started by trading away first round picks in 24 and 25. Seems a bit early for Harrison too.
Kipers mock is worst case scenerio.Kipers latest mock Top 3 OT's and top 3 Cb's are off the board by #16. Has us taking Forbes CB
Dj' mock from Nfl .com Has us take Te Kincaid over Ot Jones and Cb Porter at #16
Mcshay has us taking Spoon over Porter and the, top 3 Ot's are gone.
Just some mocks from the pundits that I follow.
