Why the hell would the competition committee want to review this play and possibly outlaw it? So what it was a great play for them? So what other teams couldn't hardly stop it?

The rules are the same for every damn team. If you don't like it being run on you, you learn to run it better and you learn to stop it. I am tired of bullshit whining by teams because some other team is benefiting from something they are not. If you don't like being left out, learn to do it, or shut the hell up.

I Disagreed
The play was illegal for years and should again
Has nothing to do with the Eagles.
Players should not be allowed to push a player from behind football is not rugby

The rule is the same for every damn team. If you don't like getting pushed down the field, fall to the ankles of the ball carrier and wrap up his ankles and let his own teammates push him to the ground. If you learn how to f'n tackle, this will not be an issue.

I tend to agree. I could see the push play being banned inside the tackle box. That would still allow players to push a pile some downfield, while eliminating the rugby-style sneak.

Disagree. The rule had been against this for decades, needs to return. The force of the ball carrier should be his alone, not his offensive line behind him. Why not just have the offensive lineman carry the ball then?

It is a copycat league so we wont really know the ramifications unless teams start doing it all of the time. If multiple teams convert a short yardage play 90% of the time then its going to fundamentally change the league.

Chiefs have one of the best interior offensive lines in the league. We'll figure it out either way (although it wont be Mahomes sneaking)

I fully expect a change here to the ability to push the runner. That used to be banned, then it was unbanned, as @cowboycolors said, and I think it will now be banned because Philly basically showed it would be unstoppable with a good line and a good rushing QB. Hurts converted short yardage at an incredible rate.

But here's the thing--if you change the rule Philly will still be able to run the sneak all day on most teams. Very few of these players needed a QB push. Most were old fashioned rugby plays. Teams will study that and copy what Philly did even with a rules change.

I disagree. But that is fine, we can agree to disagree. You can't pull a guy, but if a defensive player can get help from other defensive players to stop a guy from making yards on a short yardage play where they are trying to keep the ball carrier from reaching the 1st down or endzone, then the offensive players should be able to do the same thing. The difference is, the defense has the advantage, because if you learn how to tackle and take the legs away from the ball carrier, it doesn't matter if you have the whole damn offense pushing him, he is not going anywhere but down if he can't take a step to keep t he momentum going.

So let's outlaw gang tackling too. First guy that gets to the ball carrier is the only player allowed to make the tackle unless he loses grip and then another defensive player can try to make the tackle one on one. It will be a fun little game of the Oklahoma Drill all the way down the field.

I do think its worth pointing out that the Ravens season ended because of a failed QB sneak.

here we go again with the overreactions.
the problem is pushing...AND... other teams did it as well.

Philly didn't define the QB sneak. :L
You are correct. This rule has been in place for 17 years. It was never an issue until Philly figured out how to maximize it this year that brought it back into light. Because someone knows how to bend the rule without breaking it, it all of a sudden is a bad rule that needs changed.

All I am saying is this, if one team can do it, all teams can do it. I am a Bengals fan, we are not going to do it that with Burrow like Philly does Hurts because it maximizes the chances of the ball carrier getting hurt, in this case Burrow. However, because our oline sucks and our QB is not built the same way is Hurts doesn't mean that we should be screaming unfair and for a rule change. Some teams are better at pass defense, some better at run defense, some better at run offense and some better at pass offense. Teams are built differently based on coaching scheme and player skill set.

Because one team knows how to maximize their output within the currently confines of the rules doesn't mean that rules need to be changed.

If there is a rule that needs to be changed, its the rookie QB contract scaling.

I may be the only Eagles fan in the world that will welcome this rule change. The NFL is a copy cat league. The Eagles did it this year. Next year you’d see 7-8 teams have it in and then the Eagles have to stop it.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have a great interior offensive line and a QB who can squat 600 pounds and is adept at finding gaps for QB sneak. The Eagles will still be one of the most effective QB sneak teams in the league going forward. I hope the rule passes so they don’t have to defend it.

I feel great about my coach though. He took an opportunity and he used it generate success.

Yeah, its the type of thing you want to do if Jacoby Brissett is your QB. If Jalen Hurts gets $50 mil a year he wont be doing it anymore
Disagree. If Hurts is worth that money (and I think he is) it’s because of a skill set that gives him an edge on a play like this. This skill opens up opportunity on 3rd down as teams have to worry about run to set up 4th and 1 and an aggressive head coach that likes to go for it on 4th down. If you pay Hurts you pay for the whole package. You don’t want to limit that. There’s not a high likelihood of injury in QB sneak. The physics change because of distance and speed creating force.

The physics are certainly different when Chris Jones can catch a guy but cant really get a good hit on him. I still think its an injury risk if LBers know they cant make a play in time then theyll just hit the QB full force. The playbook against Cam Newton was to just keep on hitting him. Defensive linemen will 'fall' on Hurts ankles.
