What's tough about a loss like that the next day is, you think about your team's roster and think, how much more could they realistically do?

In other words, you think whether it is even possible to win a ring without an elite Qb like Mahomes and an elite coach like Reid. That's the depressing part. Only a handful of teams have elite quarterbacks.

Roseman built a loaded roster around Jalen Hurts. Hurts played pretty well overall, and though a few of his throws were off he generally made wise decisions with where to put the ball. The Eagles had more talent overall. But as the game wore on, KC did a better job of adjusting, it seemed, coaching wise. The KC offense figured out some things with motion to scheme receivers open and cause defensive breakdowns, and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon did not find a way to adjust.

Perhaps with a little more experience, coaches would be better, Hurts would be better. But...hard to realistically imagine putting together many rosters better than that one to contend for a ring.
To me it comes down to the same thing it has the last couple of seasons: Will Kelce come back. Dude is just incredible and I never understood why he doesn't get more attention even from Eagles fans - It's always Johnson (who is of course incredible also). Kelce had the best postseason I've ever seen from an OL 5 years ago and was a huge part of why you were where you were this year. He is as good as his brother. Johnson isn't a question. He'll be back and be great. So with those two you will be in the mix for a SB. If Kielce retires I'm not so sure. We will have to see what the kid has but he will have big shoes to fill. The OL is probably more important to Philly than any other team IMO.

The Eagles couldn't get any pressure on Mahomes and as a result lost the game. Two different teams in the 1st and 2nd half. Chiefs outplayed the Eagles in the 2nd.

As far as the "hold" YES it was.... I am a little surprised they did call it there but it was the correct call.

To me BOTH OLs were jumping early and not getting caught, which I didn't get

Mahomes is a lame fake ass drama queen loser who will prance around fake injured in the second half in order to evade legacy hit of losing while also adding big bonus to his legacy to have this fake ass injured comeback win.

Mahomes is a loser. Fuck him. Jalen Hurts is the real hero that the world needs eight now.
^^^just gonna leave this here. I know it isn't the wonderful insights we all know this person would gladly give to all of us here at the hoop, but I think it should go down in the hoop hall of Fame here at the appropriate time...

Guess he'll come out of hiding at some point though...:heh:

I'd like to learn more about the field also and what the hell happened because it sure felt like field conditions played a role in the outcome. I don't know that it favored any one team, but it seemed both teams were slipping like crazy and I don't understand how a Super Bowl is played on a lousy field.
Seemed like more Chiefs slipped than Eagles while watching on tv. BUT, maybe it impacted the pass rush in ways we didn't notice. Eagles pass rush was non-existent after being so dominant and Jones really did do much either. Maybe they couldn't get there quick steps and maybe when they dug in on power moves it gave a little. Not saying that was the case, just thinking out loud.

Especially one that was lauded as (checks media notes) “Two years in the making”…

What happened to the field is what mother nature intended. This is the reality of natural turf.

The natural turf that everyone was screaming for to reduce injuries.

Philadelphia really does like Almost MVPs.

They can talk about his running ability all they want but forget to mention the biggest play of the game was him gifting the Chiefs 7 points by being lazy with the football.

If Phili doesn’t call a single designed run for Hurts other than the QB sneaks, they win the SB.

Over the course of the season in the NFL, there was probably close to a million coaching points made. No one in Phili however decided to coach Hurts up on how to properly tuck the ball away when running it. Two hands on the ball like you are running an option when running up the middle is idiotic. Can you imagine the coaches flipping out on a RB if he ran to the LOS with the ball not tucked like that?!? Yet another in a LONG list of examples of why you let your RB's run and your QB's pass.

Subtle things most fans likely missed but Eagles fans will have noticed:

* WR Quez Watkins, who started the year as the #3 receiver, has been losing snaps for months because he is inconsistent. He got key snaps last night and dropped a big deep pass that could have been something because it appears he didn't keep running hard and mistimed the catch in the end a little. I would not be surprised to see Philly upgrade its receivers behind Smith and Brown now.

* Avonte Maddox is a good player but he had been injured for weeks. He looked to be a guy KC picked on late with those motion plays, and I think he was part of the confusion that took place several times when they failed to switch properly and left guys wide open.

What was most shocking about this game was what I thought would be it's biggest story. The Philly pass rush.
Philly could have sent 6th Graders after Mahones and this game would look no different.

The big sequence was the Eagles penalty and then the Hurts fumble that Bolton picked up for a TD.

I think both offenses were built to beat the other teams defense. Not unlike Pats-Eagles a few years back except the Eagles barely lost instead of barely won.
Good post. I agree. 24-7 at half is very different from 24-14. Good comparison to 41-33. In that game, the Eagles defense rose up and made a single defensive play. Didn’t happen last night. I thought the Eagles defensive game plan was malpractice. It was the first time all season the Eagles defense didn’t get a single sack or turnover. They’ve had games with no sacks and with no turnovers but never both. When he isn’t getting pressure with 4 he has to send at least 5 to get guys singled up. Andy did a hell of a job with the extra time suring up the protections. The Eagles young staff got out coached. Nothing but respect for Andy and your squad. It’s kind of a kick in the dick to see you guys have the Andy that learned from his deficiencies he established here. Last night he was a hell of a time manager. He stuck with his run game. He was the coach winning half time adjustments. Those are 3 metrics we never got haha.

Definitely weren't the 85 Bears.

Kinda shocked they didn't force a turnover
