Texas Rangers: Corey Seager
Contract Details: $35 million in 2024, $32.5 million in 2025, $31.5 million each year from 2026-31

See: Jose Altuve—but so much worse.

If there's a worry about Altuve not being worth $29 million as a 34-year-old, you better believe there's concern about Seager not being worth $31.5 million as a 37-year-old.

At least Altuve is a career .307 hitter who hasn't missed 250 games over the course of the past five seasons.

Even the $35 million in 2024 alone for Seager could be bad, but another seven years and $221.5 million after that might turn this into an outright disaster when all is said and done.

I hope we get him but sure don’t want to give up our best pitching prospects or even include Otto
Jung and Carter don’t need to be included either

It would truly depend on Leiter, plus what, to me. I am not a huge Reynolds fan but he would definitely be an upgrade to me in our OF. Truth is Leiter has a ways to go. He will most likely get there but he could also never be that Ace or #2 SP lots thought he might be. It would be a gamble but sometimes you gotta take one. You can always add Darvish or Ohtani next year and reload in FA, so I wouldn't be terribly upset with say a Letter and Duran package, plus maybe a lower level prospect.

If the Pirates would take Winn, Leody, Kelly, and Teodo, I would be okay with it too.

The truth is they are going to want probably 3 of our top 10 starting at or near the top. I wouldn't do even one of our top top 7 or more than one top 10. The Pirates can ask for the moon because they don't have to trade him now.

If they include Bednar I would be ok with Leiter, Foscue, Acuna, Harris, Winn & Roby.

By the end of 2023 I’m sure we would all be happy with the Rangers top 10 prospects.

Reynolds would be nice to have but he is no finishing pieces so I am not against keeping the powder dry.

I think if Leiter has started in single A, his year would have been more successful from a trade chip standpoint.

He has an alpha dog mentality so I would wait on trading him. We may be able to get Reynolds later when it matters more

I am not sold on the guy at this point so I probably would be okay with it. We have a number of young arms that some may pan out not named Leiter.

Guess my point is they put him over his head to start in Frisco. And yes he is a prospect but his value would have been PERCEIVED higher if he started in Single A. Not saying he is untradeable but just not for BReynolds who had a down year last year and is not elite defensively

Obviously he is a huge upgrade for LF and as a switch hitter is a plus. Just want to give less and can wait it out some
