IMO, they miss both of those players versatility the most. OPJ could fit in with the small ball lineup because he could run the floor, he could shoot, handle, rebound and defend multiple positions. GP2 was versatile in that he could switch on to almost anyone on defense, was especially good on the perimeter defending. On offense he was a rim runner and a lob threat, something the Warriors don't really have right now outside of Wiggins. Kuminga isn't reliable there yet.

So the issue now is that Kerr and his staff have to find the best ways to utilize the new players. I think that's why you're seeing him constantly manipulating the lineups and will continue to do so for probably the first 20 games.
I think J'Mike can do some of the things Porter could.

But, there is no replacing the mitten's defense.

@shopson67 , @trojanfan12 @DJ @Retroram52 @wildturkey @Black Adam

Did you guys already see this?

More of the same shit.

But, at least you know Rob is trying.

The article linked to that is what I have been saying all along, we'll have about 50 million next summer to add to James and AD.....

And we can trade the pick on draft night.

No you won't.

You still have to fill your roster and you have minimum cap holds.

I don't know why you keep saying this.

It has been debunked multiple times.

James and Davis' salary will be slightly higher.

You have to have a minimum of 12 players.

If the minimum salary is about 2 mil, you need at least 10.

That's 20 million gone.

It's simple math.

It was listed in the ESPN article. That was linked to your post.

So they are wrong and you're right?

Its like your fucking brain is made out of cheese whiz.

Can you count?

That's with 2 players on your roster.

You have to have 12.

Most teams have 14 or 15.

They put a cap hold at the minimum for the rest of your mandatory roster spots.

WHICH MEANS YOU CAN'T USE THAT MONEY.

Dear God....

I mean there is an EXTREME example in which the Lakers could get 50M in cap space. But that would require them to release/renounce all cap holds meaning they couldn't resign their own players. On top of that they they would have to use the 50M first, then round out the roster with minimum contracts which they could then go above the salary cap to sign.

So basically the team would have to round out the roster with almost an entirely new team.

Here's the big issue with that: Next summer, because the team is going to be saddled with a projected $87.5 million in combined salaries just from stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, plus the $1.7 million rookie-scale deal of 2022 second-round pick Max Christie and potentially the $2.6 million salary of center Damian Jones (who has a player option for 2023-24), the team is not going to have a maximum salary slot to add a third All-Star, if such is the team's plan. L.A. will have between $34.3-$35.9 million in practical cap space, per Spotrac.

Not even then.

If Jones opts out and they deal Christie.....

They are at 87 mil with just Davis and Lebron.

The will automatically have cap holds for the remaining spots.

The Lakers are currently over the league salary cap. This means Cap Holds & Exceptions are NOT included in their Total Cap Allocations, and renouncing these figures will not afford them any cap space. The team may only sign outside players using any available exceptions or at league minimum salaries.

Don't mind me. I'm probably one of the worst around here with how the cap works. Thanks for the clarification. I thought you could simply renounce their rights and it clears the space.

This year, the Lakers have shown a serious interest in Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving. Even though L.A. failed to trade for the 30-year-old, he could become available in next year’s free agency when the Purple and Gold are projected to have about $30 million in free cap space.

MPJ out here cutting down trees at a prodigious rate. Klay out here smoking trees. No wonder these guys can't stay on the court.

That is cool. And it's mindboggling to think what LeBron's closing in on. The scoring record obviously and he's gonna end up with 40,000+/10,000+/10,000+. Those are video game type numbers.
