Perfect answer. He's a basketball player, not a basketball fan.

It really isn’t though.

Basketball is Kawhi’s job, and he is damn good at it.

But he lacks passion for the sport. And that is part of the reason why he has missed so much time, IMO.

I want my franchise player to also be a fan of the game. To really geek out on basketball.

That is the only way someone can elevate to the Kobe, LeBron, KD levels of truly superlative play.

They just basically tied it up. Fun game

Monty may personally dislike DA but they're not the same team without him. Kind of wild in light of Jordan Poole getting 35 million the Suns were squabbling with DA and ruined a good shot at a title more likely than not.

Bam definitely cost me some bucks yesterday. Everyone was heavy on him as a value (only 6400) he was up near 8k most of last year.

He had like 35 to 40 percent ownership so he tanked a bunch of lineups. Rough first day for him and the Heat but they will bounce back.

I don’t mess with daily basketball much, but I did a couple free contests on DK yesterday and cashed small.

I think because I didn’t use Bam

Didn’t really hit big on anyone, just didn’t have any duds either.

I cashed on a few. I had a better day one however. Still up decent after two days

NBA is by far my favorite daily fantasy sport. I've only cashed big twice (football once and oddly enough golf the other) but it's cheaper and way more interesting than playing lotto. (Unless you get into the high dollar contests)

I am not pro or anti Kawhi but based on what I have read about him, saying he has no passion for basketball is pretty silly. Read the oral history of him where he would break into the gym at San Diego State and watch Michael Jordan videos under the table on his phone at dinner to learn all his tricks and moves. He has zero life or interests outside of playing ball. He just doesn’t like watching games on TV. This is actually not uncommon for athletes. Many NFL players will admit they don’t watch pro football and never rooted for any pro franchises even though they love to play it.

Maybe saying no passion is a little strong.

It's hard to read him sometimes because of his robotic personality.

But, he's not a guy that would run thru a wall to win.

He won't play hurt.

He's not a leader.

Dude is way more Anthony Davis/Lonzo-ish....meaning....he has the skill. But, not the fortitude to push thru day in and day out.

We need him to be more Jordan/Kobe.

Kill everyone, leave nothing in the.tank.

Is he playing b2b yet?

Crazy that this is a legit question 5 yrs later

I am just saying…

A guy who really loves the game is a fan of the game too.

It isn’t uncommon for athletes to not watch their sport. I agree.

But the best of the best are junkies who can’t get enough

I doubt it.

He actually wants to, which is refreshing.

But, that is more Frank and Lue's choice.

Judging by our roster construction, it's pretty clear it's built around him missing time.

The Clippers don’t expect that guy on Day 1, but who they’re getting is a healthy star who was busy while he was away, gaining a foothold in the music world and bulking up so much that Clipper fans have adopted a new favorite pun to describe Leonard’s legs (courtesy of Twitter user @sambivalent01): “Ka-thigh.” They’re getting a guy who’s ready to have some fun. “I missed the whole year last year,” Leonard said. “It’s been 14 months of me just trying to better myself and just focus on my overall body. … I’m tired of going through these rehab workouts and listening to doctors and trainers. Even though I’m still going to have to moving forward, but it’ll be more basketball involved. “I’m excited.”

Kawhi Leonard has been cleared to participate fully in training camp next week but the LA Clippers will proceed with “step-by-step” caution. Lawrence Frank, Clippers president of basketball operations, said Leonard’s first 5-on-5 participation will take place in camp, which starts next Tuesday in Las Vegas. “He feels great,” Frank said at the team’s practice facility. “His plan is, look, he wants to participate in everything. And I think organizationally, we’re going to be cautious. So it will be a step-by-step approach.” Frank later added: “He is cleared. For him, he’ll say, look, I want to do everything. Again, we’ll be very cautious in the approach.”

He's an amalgamation of Anthony Davis and Lonzo Ball.

Skill level?

Check.

Puts forth maximum effort?

Crickets

Distracted by his musical hobby?

Well, when you put out more songs than actual games played in a year, I'd say your priorities are a little bit fucked.

He’s obviously lying, but from I’ve seen from Kawhi he loves the game.

Dude doesn’t express it because maybe he’s shy? Lol

I just don't know how other players feel about your highest paid guy not putting in the same kind of work

Thought overall the Warriors played not great basketball last night. Yet they still dominated. I must have underestimated how bad this Lakers team was going to be.

Pelinka's seat should be on fire right now.

Ridiculously early. Once again, the Lakers shuffled their roster extensively, will take some time to get roles/rotations set. Moving Russ would impact that as well, whether to the 2nd team or a new team altogether.

I haven't bowled in a long time, but was pretty good 20 years ago (about a 200 average). It's been that long since I even picked up a ball (except when moving house lol). Would probably suck now, given lower back and knee crankiness...

Can't be mad that the Dubs are out Lakering the Lakers.

Your team has always tried to stack the deck by poaching top guys from other teams.

Dubs just did the same, organically, by drafting well and being willing to eat a huge tax bill for the sake of championships.

Both paths work.

No team in history has ever gone this deep into the luxury tax. Thru 2022, the Warriors have run up nearly $338M in luxury taxes over 5 seasons. The Lakers have $172M over the last 11 years. Lakers highest payment was $45M, Warriors paid $170M+ last season (more than triple the tax of any champion in the luxury tax era). The Warriors never paid the tax until 2015, but they have more than made up for lost time lol. If they stay the course and accrue a $500M bill for next season, they're kinda making a farce out of the league.

Then again, what team has bottomed out deep in the lottery amidst a long finals run? To add lottery players mid-run is beyond rare with your own picks. Poole was just great scouting, but followed by a #2 and #7 overall is bizarre, given the injuries needed to drive them that low. Opportunistic and shrewd with the picks (provided Wiseman works out; imagine if they got #1 and Edwards?).

Poaching has such a negative connotation. Free agency is open to everyone with cap space. The Lakers paid HEAVILY for AD, if not overpaid.
