I used to see these guys in the orange jumpsuits at the Oasis Car Wash (now closed) on Kingsway when I was working at Metrotown. Perhaps the owner was inspired by the following...

My first job was working at the Oasis car wash in West Van. I don't know if this is true but I was told the car in West Van was modeled after the one in the Car Wash movie and that both car washes were owned by the same guy -- Elgin Arnold.

not sure if these people realize how important tourist dollars are to this city

also, the 4-5 hour waits at YVR was because the TSA screeners decided to all call in sick to "make a point"

fuck right off

Yeah, I fully got lucky at the 3rd restaurant I hit last night, first was a 30 minute wait, second was a 60 minute wait.

/The wait was okay though, the grilled salmon was delicious

I’m all for the right to strike (although I always think it hurts labour far more than it ever helps).

But the service industry arguably, at least as far as private sector goes, got royally fucked by Covid more than any other. I just don’t have any sympathy for anybody making things even a little hard for that industry after the past few years.

Yeah, I hate hearing the stories of people angrily ranting at restaurant service workers. In fact, I hope my tip last night reflects how much I appreciate their hard work.

I cringe when I hear or see those bcgeu ads about (paraphrasing) being demoralized by seeing their coworkers quitting ... as always ... good luck surviving in the private sector lol I dont think cola increases are the norm for the bulk of the private sector ... the only cola you get there is possibly a discounted coke in the vending machine (doubtful!)

health care workers and first responders ... yes ... they deserve the increased support financially ... but ldb employees (of which my sister is one - admin though) ... caman!!! That has to be one of the cushiest jobs out there ... I dont want to be the old guy who draws from past experience that was 20 plus years ago but (Ill do it anyways - lol) I worked retail auxiliary at ldb during my university years and yah thats probably how I got out of university without loans/debt lol

I got 3 cheques. And 94 at Chevron is now the lowest I've seen in quite a while @ $2.09/l.

Don’t have stats for up there but Victoria looks like Vancouver’s line here. Only major center in the country where gas has gotten higher in the last month instead of dropping significantly.

I was just there two days ago...You have to be either goofing around or trying very hard to fall off the Skywalk.

Didn't keep me from feeling a little uneasy on the netting at the top. :)

But ya... I agree, you'd have to try to fall off.

Folks, just got back from a couple of days at Ucluelet and Tofino - Great weather out on the best coast.

Awesome shots ya got, Dash. I haven't been out there since the 90's when I worked in Ucluelet for about a month. Unfortunately, all I got to see was heavy rain - 24/7 - since it was in January and February.

You should hike the Pacific Rim trail if you ever get a chance as that is supposed to be spectacular.

My wife and I did do a portion of the Wild Pacific Trail hike (the Lighthouse Loop) in Ucluelet and it is a easy hike with spectacular scenery. We also rented bikes and did a 30km+ bike ride down from Tofino to Long Beach and back in the Pacific Rim Reserve and it's a pretty easy bike ride as far as difficulty goes combined with awesome sights.

/I think my wife's favorite scenery was checking out the male surfers lol
