Thatd really even out the football divisions and obviously adding those bball schools would be huge

Plus you get great academics and good TV markets

I could also switch out Stanford for Washington our Oregon if need be but i prefer Stanford

You want a really well done set of slides that includes the research dollars here's a well done one. It covers a bunch of over expansion stuff too but the research dollars is interesting. As Maryland fan and alumni I was surprised how much we spend. We were not embarrassed.
That was a very useful and informative video and helps to understand who the B1G will probably go after going forward. I love the idea of Stanford coming in, and Washington, too. Cal would be my 3rd pick and then one of the Arizona schools, only because I'd be ok with traveling there for a game. After that, Colorado faired well in most of those graphs and lastly Oregon figured really well in some of the graphs and really badly in others and I just think the ones they figured well on are because of Uncle Phil's help, once that guy dies Oregon falls back down to the loser school they always were before, and are shown to be in those graphs they did so bad in. Sort of like Nebraska, all they had going for them was football and once that fell off, now people are wanting the B1G to ditch them.

Too bad for you it's NOT all about football. And anyone can see Nebraska ranks high in this list of yours, too, and most likely ranked much higher when the B1G brought them in, and look how that turned out for the B1G.

Oregon's horrible R & D numbers could basically leave them out all alone but then you add in their lacking in media footprint, and football recruiting and that alumni thing that guy mentioned in the video above, I just think Stanford, Cal and Washington all offer way more in those areas and do well enough in football. Though I won't say it won't happen for Oregon as they rate really well in some metrics, and those might be important enough to get them in? Maybe the B1G will talk to Uncle Phil himself and get him to pledge a boatload of cash to Oregon's R & D to get it ranked better in order to get allowed in?

I think if there was a five, UVA would be a strong possibility. I think they were trying to lure them all those years ago when they took Maryland. I think the B1G would jump at the chance to grab them if it was a possibility if for no other reason than to have an in road to recruiting in Virginia.

Does Minnesota have a baseball team? If they do then the College World Series was rigged because they didn't win.

Yes, Minnesota has a baseball team, arguably the most successful baseball program in the B1G, most National Titles, most players in the MLB. I'm sure I could look it up and see how they rate as far as # of Conf Titles and winning percentage vs every other B1G program and they'd rate near the top if not at the top.

As for their inability to win a Natl Title in my lifetime, that sport has changed and yes, it's arguably rigged to ensure only southern schools will win. Oregon St being the only exception in the last 50 or so years?
Gophers hoops. About 25 regular season wins? Get to the Elite 8?
This new coach seems to have good relations with Minnesota high school coaches, something little Rickie did not develop.

You are right about this. The B1G did covet Virginia and UNC and Georgia Tech I believe as well. Settled for Maryland, lol.

What are your expectations for Gophers football? They'll win the conference right?

Does Minnesota have a baseball team? If they do then the College World Series was rigged because they didn't win.

Gophers hoops. About 25 regular season wins? Get to the Elite 8?

And Minnesota hockey. A hockey lesson for you since you think Minnesota owns that sport.

The Avs won Stanley Cup. Denver U. won the national title. And Denver East high school won a national title.

And since you like to brag about all things Minnesota. Not just the Gophers. Didn't Ohio State's women's hockey team just win a national title by beating a team from the state you over-pimp way too much?
I'll address the hockey stuff later when I have more time. for now, Gopher's football is still led by PJ Fleck, so yes, my expectation for them is to win the Division soon, and eventually the Conference Title, anything less will be a disappointment. Will it happen? Maybe not? OSU has become a formidable force and it will take alot to beat them, but like your hockey example shows, sometimes a team with an amazing coach can overcome and beat the otherwise formidable force that usually wins.

Oregon has a 1.3 Endowment projected to be 3.2 in two years. This new movement is all about revenue. Cling to your old school thinking. The five big sports that drive TV and revenue is obviously football, mens & womens bball, softball & baseball. Um is horrible in all five of them. Embrace the NIL and this new movement. It’s no longer what you are clinging to cause your school sucks at sports

Pls tell Phil Knight to save UW and Oregon.

I think this is the first time UW and Oregon fans want the same thing, and that's to jump off the sinking ship that is the PAC-12.

Minnesota is NOT "horrible" in all five of them, holy fuck dude, turn on your brain. UMn has arguably the most storied history in the B1G in Baseball. This last year wasn't great, but that's possibly in part to past success leading to guys leaving early for MLB, we still tower over other B1G programs at producing MLB talent, and UMn also no doubtedly towers over Oregon in that respect as well. Has Oregon EVER won a title in Baseball?

And UMn's been sharing top honors in the B1G in softball with Michigan for half a dozen years now, at least? Beaten a boatload of West Coast teams, in the process, too.

UMn's Women's BB has something like the #4 ranked recruiting class in the nation coming in this year, at least they were #4 at one time, I could look it up, probably Top Ten at least.

UMn's Men's BB just hired a new coach, a young coach, who lost the whole team to the transfer portal, but NO ONE is criticizing his coaching skills, in fact it was almost a unanimous opinion that every is happy with his coaching skills, now all we need to do is wait and see how his recruiting skills are.

And football? STFU!!! I'll get into that later when I have more time.

And Hockey is a revenue sport, whether you like it or not, and Minnesota's one of the top programs in the nation in almost any category that you measure such things, wins(I don't know a decent team UMn doesn't have a winning record against, that they've played more than once or twice, Titles(Top 5), producing pros(#1 at that, easily), attendence(#2 I believe, most years, #1 all-time probably), TV ratings, TV deals, etc..

And a 1.3 Endowment is embarrassing. Oregon doesn't even rank in the Top 100, or is it Top 150 in R & D? Nebraska, ranked last in the B1G, makes Oregon look bad.

The Big 10 and SEC have officially made the FBS a Super League

Big 10(north conference)

and

SEC(south conference)

then i say add Miami, Florida State and Clemson to the SEC
and add Notre Dame, Syracuse and Kansas to the Big 10

Lol - Minnesota is a nothing burger. We’ve been through this many times. Step aside Um, Rutgers, Nebraska and Indiana can battle. With the 6 schools coming into the conference Um will slip 6 more slots.

What's hilarious is you truly think Minnesota's the most elite school in the conference.

Next you'll say Minnesota football > USC football & Minnesota basketball > UCLA.

Hell you already think Minnesota hockey's the best all time. Yet they don't even have the most national titles.

For those of you that think it's about Brand.
When Maryland and Rutgers joined the BIG Ten in 2014, you basically have the opposite of a national football brand.
When the BIG Ten released market revenue numbers coming into the BIG Ten for each school, Maryland and Rutgers were 2 of the top 3.

UCLA and USC certainly bring both, but not required.

That's why a school like GT will remain on the radar if the ACC folds.
And not because GT brings the market, but the existing BIG Ten alumni in that market just like Rutgers and Maryland.
And the ACC product there with GT will move from ESPN to FOX.

This just seems so scummy. Who actually wants this besides television executives?

You can thank Larry Scott. It's his handling of tv deals and the PAC-12 Network that led to this.

This isn't about tv execs. This is about money for the conference and the schools.

PAC teams get $30 million per year from their tv deal...B1G teams get $100 million. That's right...Rutgers gets $70 million more per year than USC, Oregon and Washington. Those payouts will get bigger with the addition of the LA market.
