These guys just like hearing their names ring out....

Bradley Beal 'very likely' to decline option and re-sign with Wizards on max deal

In Beal’s case, a $36.4 million player option is much more certain to be declined. Even if Beal simply re-signs with the Wizards, he can increase his 2022-23 salary to the projected max of $42.7 million. Per Wojnarowski, Bradley Beal is very likely to decline the option and re-sign with Washington on a five-year deal worth a projected $248 million that would take him through age 33.

Why would the Nets do all that?

Wouldn't it be easier to let Kyrie walk and save themselves the 40 mil it would take to buy Westbrook out?
Yep unless they just want a couple of future picks…or than that too much work and money

The duplicate Jalen Williams thing has been solved by the players themselves. The one from Santa Clara will be called Jdub and the one from Arkansas Jwil.

Jesus would go MIA or in the witness protection program if Irving came looking for help.
This kind of reminded me of the scene in Major League when the older pitcher says "are you trying to tell me Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?"

In this case it's "Jesus Christ cannot help Kyrie?" while I think maybe he can hit a curveball I don't think even he can help Kyrie.

For the same reason the Lakers can't just let Westbrook walk. Player option.

Embiid and Harden need to tamper the fuck out of KD. If KD signs off on the Sixers they have a lot going for them:
1. Morey has a solid relationship with Marks the Nets GM
2. Nets have coveted Maxey and Thybulle. Including Harris and numerous picks would be an attractive offer. It’s likely better than any non-Bam or Butler offer from Miami from a Nets perspective

Miami doesn’t have much to give back in a deal for KD unless they include Butler or Bam.
Not sure how much they really covet Thybuille and would Maxey be wanted so much more than Herro? Not saying he's not but I'm not sure about that.

Even if he picks it up, what sense does it make to trade for a higher salary to buy out?

For a 2027, 29 pick they are gonna eat 40 plus mil?

Just trade them both to the Spurs for....

Everyone and all their picks.

Pop's retirement timeline would speed up...

..at warp speed.

Then I question the Nets front office. You’ve seen Herro’s ceiling. He’s always going to be a defensive liability. It’s why he was one of the Heat’s best/arguably best offensive players and yet he came off the bench. He’s a turnstile defensively and that occurred inside a franchise with a great focus on teaching and developing defense, even able to hide him in junk defenses and he was still a liability. It’s not like Maxey is all NBA defense or anything. But he still possesses the potential to grow as a defensive player to at least be adequate. Additionally, the salary filler with Miami is Duncan Robinson. He’s a one way player as well that couldn’t even get in the playoff rotation. Obviously, this is a deal from the Nets perspective that has an eye on the future. Maybe I’m alone but watching the gains made by Maxey from year 1 to year 2 (28% from 3 to 40% from 3; vastly improved as a finisher; dramatically reduced turnovers) in a head to head projection I would say Maxey over Herro if I’m projecting which piece is most likely to be a perennial All Star you can build a team around.

But I’ll own that maybe I’m overplaying what Maxey is. I’m off the point now because you’d never get real value back in an Embiid trade, but I have even considered trading Embiid now when you can get a good return for him and setting sights on competing 3-4 years from now around Maxey. In addition to being Uber talented (Calipari who also had Herro called Maxey the most instinctive and offensively gifted player he’s ever had) Maxey is a bull dog when it comes to his work ethic. This season Sixers staff had to lock the facility down on some off days to ensure that he rested and didn’t manufacture a two hour gym session for himself.

I agree with Scal. The Celtics still have the best offer if they are willing to trade Brown, I dont believe they should though

My guess is that it would likely include Maxey. The only way it doesn’t is if KD says I’m sitting out and the only team I’m going to is the Sixers. If it’s a group of 3,4,5 considerations the Sixers have to compete with they will assuredly have to give up Maxey. Harris is no prize. It’s an overpriced contract despite him being a solid NBA vet starter. Maxey is the prize and Thybulle is worth a swing because of his skills as a defender. If Thybulle can improve his handle and ability to finish and a confidence to take and make 3s at 35% clip he can be the 4th or 5th best player on a top 4 seed playoff team. But the real prize here would be Maxey. If I’m the Nets, I tell Morey, don’t even waste our time if you come with something that doesn’t include Maxey.
