It's been a month since I wrote that. Ooh sweet summer child, I was.

I hate Ark. I hate how much he's playing it, and I have to keep cracking down on him to pull away from it. His life right now is just Ark. He plays it and he's on Discord chatting with people on his server or buying/selling/trading creatures gear and material.

I'm trying to be tactful with how hard I push him away from it, but I absolutely hate it and if any of you have kids that want to play it, don't let them start.

Fuck this game. It has no storyline, it has no achievements. It's just chore after chore after chore. It's a mobile game built out into a PC platform. This format of game is just heroin.
I guess try to lure him away with another game. I never got into those games but when I did get addicted, it's all I would do. Until a certain my parents put a limit on my gaming but that was back in the day. I was playing super nintendo or nintendo 64 so it wasn't a big deal. Whole different story nowadays.

Yeah old offline console days were a whole different world.

I would love to lure him away, but the game knew what they were doing in addicting people to it. And he's made friends doing it. I'd love to introduce him to other things. I have a whole slew of excellent games on Steam, Origin, UPlay and BattleNet he could play at any time.

And a PS4 with all the hits. And he was playing Fallen Order, but that fell to the side so he could mainline Ark.

Sooo much better than Sport. Reminds me of GT 4.

Ark is a great game. It's one of the few out there at the moment that allows you to eat your own shit. Or anybody else's shit if you can get your hands on it.

I'm playing through Jedi Fallen Order.

I go into most Star Wars products with low expectations and this one has exceeded them by quite a bit. The first level is very reminiscent of Naughty Dog and gives the game a cinematic intro level. The next area is more of a barren Dark Souls level and the area after that starts off like Dark Souls before adding a more complex Darksiders/Zelda type of dungeon. Its a very ambitious game while still feeling a bit like a knockoff.

I'm having a lot of fun and its a game that the wife doesn't mind watching so this is a big win, imo. I will say that not everything works here. There are some slide sections where you have to turn on a dime and thats not how ice works so there are a few funny tumbles into the abyss sometimes. I also think that engaging more than one enemy in combat at a time doesnt work very well here even when compared to Dark Souls and Bloodborne. It might be because Im playing at a higher difficulty and the enemy AI's aggressiveness is also tied to the difficulty. That might just be a 'me' thing and I might just need to play a bit longer.

Still, it has good combat, good levels, and Star Wars. Hard to complain too much.

Fallen Order is on sale now for $10 on steam. I might finally bite. Though I am into Valheim right now so don’t really have time for another game atm.

Yeah, thats the price point that I bit on. Probably worth anything under $40, tbh, but at $10 its definitely worth playing.

Again, I dont think this is a revolutionary game or anything but it does a lot of typical video game things fairly well. Titanfall 2 was pretty good, too. Respawn is a good dev.

I'm addicted to Halo. The maps are getting old quick though. Waiting on new maps in May, hoping for some more wide open maps.

Apparently they brought back Quake? Its aged great. Maybe a little drab but it always was. Playing it on console but it was on sale for a couple of bucks. Still love the soundtrack and special effects. Probably should check this out on PC, though. It zips around so quickly and feels great with a controller but ultimately not the way to play. Tons of content. Ill admit im probably too old to take this online as Ive only dabbled in boomer shooters.

Played through Supergiant's game called Pyre so I've played all Supergiant games. Its hard to talk about it without spoiling. Pyre > Hades > Bastion > Transistor imo. All very close in quality, tbh.

I just tried Red Dead Redemption 2 again. The first time I tried it, I found it slow and boring and gave it up after about 5 hours of playtime.

I decided to give it another shot because everyone says it's so good, and I just don't like it. I find it clunky and slow. Which is a shame because I really WANT to like it.

I've tried to like that one. Just went back to play RDR1 instead. Its a little dated but I enjoy it more.

Beat Control. It was decent. Not excellent but it's interesting enough.

Playing Metro Exodus next. Kinda looks like a Russian (Ukrainian?) cross between TLOU and and Rdr. No idea.

I just started South Park "The Stick of Truth" and it's pretty funny. Not a great game, but good for playing stoned, I'm assuming.

I'll probably Play Elden Ring next ... If I can ever turn Gran Turismo 7 off. I'm addicted to that damn game.

Started getting into Halo: Infinite recently... Strictly for online play since I used to waste my life away on Halo2 & 3 back in the day.

Gotta admit, the nostalgia is awesome. Happy to have the halo2/3 feel back, but the battle pass system is dogshit. I know that is the new era of online gaming, but yuck. The rewards are still quite the grind even with the pass, and the payoff is pretty crappy. Seems like they really missed the mark on it.

Fractured but Whole is just as funny, but the game play is improved quite a bit. Plus you get to be a super hero

I am currently playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and I hated it at first . It was like watching a movie that I occasionally had to hit X to advance. Later into it I am having a lot of fun.

Horizon Forbidden West is fun. Definitely a better game than Zero Dawn so far but I suspect it might be a little too similar for some tastes. Only about six hours in so I can't really comment too much.
