Jones wasn’t raw , he was pro readyRaw as you've defined it cannot be separated from the responsibilities of the team drafting this raw talent. Take New England for example and the job that they did with a guy who perfectly fit their offensive scheme. M. Jones is very limited and they knew it, so what did they do? They made great efforts to hide his limitations while putting him in very familiar situations that enhanced their opportunity to be competitive. The difference is akin to putting a toddler behind an automobile steering wheel versus putting him/her in one of those walkers in which they learn to walk.
The issue in relation to your definition of "raw" is fit and not simply how the player fits the organization, but also how the organization is a fit for the player. With Lawrence both applied and the results are obvious!
