Harris is a positive player on the court. He's overpaid but still a valuable asset. Which is why the Sixers would only unload him if they were getting a 4 in return. Like John Collins.
Yeah the trade makes sense from both sides and Collins being unhappy might just make it happen

It isn't happening because it doesn't work financially in a 1 for 1 swap.
The Sixers would need to add more salary just to make the numbers work.

Pretty sure nobody is claiming this and it's just a matter of whether or not the Nets think they have leverage to get Maxey/Thubulle/picks or the Sixers can use Green/picks because they think they have the leverage.

Myself, I'm not too keen on Harden, but if the Sixers don't have to give up Maxey or Thybulle, I could be talked into it. Also, this could just be a smokescreen to get another team involved.

If the nets can get Simmons green and picks they should do it.

Not because Simmons is better, but because I don’t want all 3 of my best players being over 30, with Durant and harden being well over

Plus those picks let them make another move this summer

It sounds like Morey is obsessed with acquiring Harden. If so, how far does he go. I think this has been his ultimate plan, bring Harden to his next gig

The Nets have more leverage than the Sixers
That depends on the validity or degree of the recent report about Harden essentially threatening sabotage. We’ve already seen an IDGAF Harden before Houston dealt him. If the Nets consider that to be a distinct possibility they’re motivated to do something sooner or later. The difference in leverage comes in the Sixers willingness to wait. Waiting also increases the likelihood the Sixers could pursue other possibilities during the summer like Beal or Dame or they like the continued prospects of developing Maxey and they look more to a 3 and D guy to round out their attack after watching this incomplete group in the playoffs. Not sure that the Nets actually have the better leverage in this case.

But the caveat….I’m willing to own I’m a Homer with a Sixers-centric POV.

He doesn't. Adding Simmons to the Nets improves the Nets more than adding Harden improves the Sixers.

I suspect you are right. Harden is not my first choice. But if that is the best that Morey thinks he can do, then I guess I'll have to live with that.

I will say I hope this happens and I hope it’s a 3-teamer. Last time Harden was traded, the Cavs got Allen. If they offer a pick they could probably grab Cam Thomas or Nic Claxton

I’ve seen rumors they want to deal Claxton for the same reasons they dealt Allen last to me. Tax dollars

There are other trades he can make that would improve the Sixers without improving a team they will likely have to beat to get out of the East.

Shit, trading him for Westbrook would be better. If he's smart, he'll go back and try to revive the Sacramento deal. He could improve the Sixers, get rid of his Simmons headache by sending him to NBA Siberia and leave Harden to kill the Nets from the inside.

If I'm a Sixers fan, I wouldn't be excited about getting Harden.

Some of you are discounting a key factor in any Simmons-Harden trade: age.

Harden is 32 and does look like he is now on the downside of his career, while Simmons is still young, 25. Rightly or wrongly, some people will look at Simmons and want to bet he has a nice 8 years left as a star player. No one thinks Harden has more than a couple years left as a star player.

There is also the contractual aspect. Harden can opt out this summer. Simmons is on a long-term deal.

Unless Philly was just going to rent Harden, trading him carries risk and Brooklyn may want to do a deal before the trade deadline that avoids this Harden contract issue and its complications for them. They will have far less leverage if they are doing a sign and trade in the offseason.

32 is no longer old in the nba.

The deal can’t be straight up anyway.

Yoyre asking brook to add at least 10m to its luxury tax payments

You gotta make it worth their while to take an inferior player and pay more money

I don’t know man.

Guys can still play at 32 for sure.

But how many guys continue to play at an elite level much past 32?

LeBron is the exception, not the rule.

thing with harden is he doesn't rely on athleticism. Those are the guys i worry about.

Durant and Curry are doing just fine

Yeah. He might be fine.

I do worry about apathy and conditioning with him though.

Not even a thought for me with Curry and KD.

I don't think that's true for this year.
I just don't see Simmons coming right in and not getting razzed by the fans from other teams, regardless of him coming to Philly. Maybe down the line.

Also, with the way the Sixers have been flummoxed by zone defenses this season, a guard like Harden (especially if he's motivated) can help with that.

Honestly, there's question marks on both sides.
But, keeping Simmons certainly doesn't help the Sixers right now.
