Well to be fair the idea is to score and a one yard TD pass is worth the same as a one yard TD run. Seems to work for the Packers. If you own Rodgers or Adams your likely happy.

Fair??

That's the entire point..they are only passes to pad Rodgers GD MVP chances, what about the RB's, how's that "fair"?? To be %100 transparent I don't own Rodgers, Adams, Jones, Dillon..any of them, in any leagues, so looking at it, totally unbiased, it's very obvious that it's 100% bullshit and it's all about Rodgers tallying a TD on the stat sheet, not about scoring a TD for the Packers. If it was only about simply scoring a TD, turning around and handing it to a dude who just ran the defense over for 8 yards to get one more yard, makes a helluvalot more sense than throwing two passes, which could at any time get tipped, dropped, intercepted.

And it'd be different if this only happened occasionally..but this is virtually every, single, time

BTW it was Lazard, not Adams

They score passing from the one yard line on a regular basis, it works for them. Was aware that it was Lazard this time. It’s nothing new for the Packer, they been doing it for a lot years. As long as it works they’ll continue to do so.

I remember Manning doing the same thing in Indy.

Also there seems to be a trend where mobile QBs run the ball themselves on the one. Hill, Newton, Jackson and some of the mobile rookie QBs like Lawrence do that. Frustrating when your needing your RB to get those TDS.

Naw, ain’t buying it…it’s all about Rodgers, and his resume.
i agree with Treff here everytime i turn the channel it is to see Rodgers pass and not hand to Jones or Dillon..

killed me quite a few times since i drafted Jones as a rook in my main keeper league

way way to often ....and ya Cam runs it in however in his case i feel he costs the wr most often as McCaf when he plays get his share as well

it just feels to me that if Jones/Dillon dont score from outside the 3 or 4 they wont be scoring.....

Naw...neither Edge nor Addai ever had problems racking up TD's with Manning under center. Both had multiple 10+ TD seasons..he may have done it time to time..hell everyone does from time to time, sneaking a short pass when everyone expects a run, is smart football. What Rodgers does is not "time to time", it's damned near everytime.

Just for S'&G's.. I checked the box scores for a few seasons---

This year Aaron Jones has 4 inside the 5, Dillon has 4 inside the five, Rodgers has thrown 11, and ran in 3 more inside the five

Last year Aaron Jones had 9 TD'S, Five of which had to be from more than 5 yards out, only 4 were "goaline carries"...Rodgers threw 15 TD's 5 yards or less

In '19 when Jones had 16 rushing TD'S, 9 of them where from 5 yards or further out. Rodgers threw 7 in from 5 or closer.

Joe Addai in '07 had 12 in 15 games, 8 were inside the five, Manning threw only 5 TD's inside the 5 (he did sneak in 3 as well)

Edge in 05 had 13 in 15 games, 11 of them were inside the 5, and Manning only threw 3 5 yards or shorter. (D Rhodes had 4 more short rushing td's)

The statistics don't back up that statement.

They stats also don't back up the "they've done this for years" theory either..it's been getting worse...pretty much correlating with Aaron Jones proving he could put the team on his back, that's about the time Rodgers REALLY started calling his own number

I agree with Treff here. Your argument would make sense if the Packers had a problem running it in from the 1, but they do not. Both Dillon and Jones are excellent inside the 5 yard line, but Rodgers doesn't get credit for those touchdowns.

Dillion and Jones help making the pass a high percentage play as teams load up the box. Sure it pads Rodgers stats, but it works, if it didn’t then they quit throwing it and run it instead.

Haha..well I ain't saying it don't work...I'm simply saying that it ain't about the Packers winning games.

This is just going to have to be an agree to disagree thing, because I just see it as a selfish guy padding his stats. So many of those plays are called runs and then he just throws the quick pass to Adams anyway instead of just running the play that was called.

When McCarty was coaching there was speculation that Rodgers change the calls during the game. I haven't heard anything like that under
LeFleur. Be interesting to hear @Trudem take on the matter. Heck I'm not sure why I defend Rodgers as I prefer having RBs score TDs...other then it seems to work.

Stop man.

The game has changed a lot.

And defenses are very good at stopping goal line runs these days.

Entirely legitimate to pass the ball in from the 1 today. Lots of teams play that way.

Yep.

Game has changed

Every team has that 1 yard passing play that works most of the time.
