But why would New Orleans want him? And what would they give up?

New Orleans pg situation is ok

My best guesses for a cj fit are m

Dallas
Indy (I think he can play with brog)
NO (but I’m not a huge graham guy)

Cj, not dame
Still doesn’t make sense for both sides. It’s not like they are one piece away. Giving up Ingram is too much and taking CJ back wouldn’t make sense. Also, giving up a pick for CJ doesn’t make sense.

Good article on possible trade...

Simmons for Warren, Duarte, and Sabonis is an interesting offer. Not sure if that is what Morey is looking for.
I'm not sure why Indiana would do that. I get they are rebuilding now but Sabonis is a damn good player...add in the rookie Duarte (yes older) and Warren. No way. They are giving up too much and Duarte could be a guy that could help them in their rebuild. Sabonis + cap filler for Simmons.

I'm not sure if would be a major need for Philly but with Maxey emerging...Sabonis and Embiid is intriguing.

Warren is a FA next season. So that's why he is included. FTR, the trade also include Isaiah Joe and Paul Reed.

Duarte is a 24 year old rookie. Most likely you get what you see with him with only a minor improvement.

The thing with Simmons is he's a real crap shoot. Even if he doesn't notably improve his shooting, he is still a game changing talent that can elevate teams from lottery to scary playoff team even if he probably can't get them to title contenders. For some teams that is what they are looking for.

Philly going to have to break by February. Ben is serious and will miss the season if needed and his trade value isn't getting better

Play hardball and keep him on the roster means not a title winning roster

Realize it isn't going to workout and trade him for a couple of quality players and maybe a future draft pick turns you into a legit title contender

But yeah let's play hardball

Is what it is, they messed up by ever drafting him.

No, they didn’t though.

He was clearly the best and by far most valuable player in his draft class for years.

They messed up by not trading him sooner when his value was sky high.

They can also take those assets and create a package for a different trade. Might be able to get someone who can actually help when teams start looking to dump salary to prepare for the off season.

Thats another thing with this. They had to know that he and Embiid werent working and that Simmons wasnt working on his game before anyone else did. They could have traded him before last season. Imagine what they could have gotten for him then.

He has nothing to stand on. He is under contract and can't play anywhere else at this time.

But it isn't that simple. WHO are those quality players you are referring to that they could get? It's all well and good to say that they could get a couple of quality players but specifics matter.

Because when you say quality players that can mean very different things to different teams. For the Sixers, quality players means players that would be front line rotation players in the playoffs. That isn't a huge group of players. If the Sixers could get a couple of those and a draft pick, I'd probably be ok with trading Simmons provided they have desirable contracts.

If Woody had gone straight to the police, this would never have happened.

CJ or the 2-3 the kings can offer. Barnes and Hield with a future draft pick isn't bad at all imo

And that is helping the Sixers to not waste another year of Embiid's prime how?
