interesting but four teams in 2021 is suspect
It is a good sign when minor leaguers are advanced during the season. He was also in two different organizations.

It was A ball then high A ball with the Yankees
Then High A with the Rangers then AA with the Rangers. That’s a very good sign that’s he progressing quickly.

Not suspect at all.
If it was in reverse order maybe, but it was like promotion after promotion

Dude can hit

Myself, I would rather wait and trade for an ace when we have a chance to go to the WS. If they have to go get a free agent ace, I would rather wait until next offseason, hoping that we don't have to give up a draft choice for doing so.

The reason I like Kershaw is because of the off chance that he regains his form while here on a short term deal and we can convince him to sign a longer deal. If it doesn't work out then nothing was lost as they can certainly afford him over the next couple of years.

I think there is a very good chance we may already have an ace in our system.
that's totally backwards from what teams do. they usually have an ACE and add quality to ensure their push

I think Marte is going back to 2B for good according to the front office.
Just read a little bit into it.
Apparently the diamondback fans will tell you all about how bad he is in Cf?

2 errors in 175 chances in CF 3 errors at 2B in 70+ chances doesn't seem that bad at either

This is a good plan and one that we should have tried more thei last couple of seasons. We always went mostly after cheap, hard to trade players though. This is usually the way Oakland rebuilds and why they are only down for 2 or 3 years when they do rebuild.

Jeff Wilson's #2 Rangers SS prospect:

Luisangel Acuna

Known mostly as the little brother of Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr., Luisangel is on the verge of making a name for himself after a solid 2021 campaign at Low A Down East.

The Rangers entered the season unsure if he was a second baseman or shortstop, but he showed he can handle shortstop with aplomb. The Rangers selected him as their Minor League Defender of the Year.

The offensive potential is what excites the Rangers. Acuna hit 12 homers and finished with a .749 OPS, not bad for a player’s first full season. After hitting .165 in May, he hit .290 the rest of the way. He also swiped 44 bases.

There’s more in the bat to come.

Jeff Wilson's #3 Rangers SS prospect:

Maximo Acosta

Acosta has been compared to a young Jurickson Profar, whose baseball instincts helped atone for any shortcomings while coming through the minors. The difference is that Acosta has barely played early in his career.

He made his professional debut in July in the Arizona Complex League, but his season was cut short after only 61 at-bats because of thoracic outlet syndrome. Throw in the COVID non-season, and he’s behind on his development.

The Rangers see a player who hits to all fields and could develop 20-homer power. He’s a natural at shortstop and comes with a plus arm. He’s just 19, so he has time. But it feels like he’s lost a lot of time already.

I really wanted to see the Rangers make a move or two before the lockout. It is certainly too early to lose hope, but with each passing day things are looking more and more like the offseason could be somewhat of a disappointment. If nothing happens by the end of the day Monday I think I will begin to get worried. When the offseason cranks back up in February, and things are extra fast and furious, I don't know that I trust the front office to be able to get something major accomplished.

Let's get going!

I guess there is always a chance they work out something with Story and agree with him to not announce it until after the new CBA is ratified. I would think something would leak out if that does happen.

I am not worried yet, but I am starting to feel just a bit uneasy. Just a tad.

Wasn’t expecting much during holidays. Should be pretty busy for many teams Monday thru Wednesday.

Except until last year the team really had no real intention to rebuild. That is the real error
They wanted to fill seats in their shiny new stadium

They have been in rebuild mode for awhile. They just didn't acknowledge it. You can look back at what they did each of the last few offseasons to see what the plan was.
