You talking crazy!!!! LOL. I get your point, but I am greedy and would like both. When you have a valid MLB player at the same position, you don't have to count on the rookie so much and you can just let him grow at his own pace.
I look at it from the perspective that what Bryan Reynolds has been doing at the major league level is roughly comparable to what we hope Kelenic to be. Really the only reason not to make a Bryan Reynolds for Kelenic is if (A) You believe Kelenic will be better than Reynolds or (B) You're concerned about service time.

Regarding point (A) Perhaps I'm reading too much into Kelenic's 2020 struggles, but I really do believe that if Kelenic reaches his potential it's not like he'd be substantially better than Reynolds is now. By making this move, we wouldn't be going into the season with the hope that Kelenic figures it out. Regarding point (B) Reynolds is a free agent in 2026, Kelenic in 2028. I'd feel a lot better about the Mariners playoff chances in 2022 and 2023 rolling with a guy who has proved he can do it at an elite level as opposed to a guy who has the potential to do it at an elite level.

It's also worth noting that it's not like we're short of outfield depth in the organization.

Beating a dead horse but if we're going to send a haul for a centerfielder, I'd rather it be Bryan Reynolds. Mullins hit 73% of his 30 HRs (22) at home in Baltimore which is a friendly place for hitters. Mullins does have the speed factor, but that doesn't age very well...

The up and coming stars all have ace potential but will be the 4-6 pitchers where they skip starts worrying about innings.

Suzuki would be a solid add so they can finally trade off the OF depth, like Fraley, Trammell and DeLoach

My pie in the sky ideal off-season is to sign Semien, Suzuki and Stroman then trade Trammell/Fraley/DeLoach, Kyle Lewis, Evan White and Brash to the A’s for Manaea, Chapman and Olsen. Let France play DH Semien at 2B and you have gold glove infield. Kelenic in LF, Haniger in CF and Julio in RF or switch their positions. By doing that it means Marte who will be a top 25 prospect by next years trade deadline and he can be moved for the biggest ace on the market. I would also like the Dodgers to release over his stuff and have the Mariners sign him dirt cheap. Plus the Mariners need a backup veteran catcher or go get a 50/50 starter with Raleigh.
Love the trade idea, although I don't think Trammell, Fraley, DeLoach, Kyle Lewis, Evan White and Matt Brash would be enough to land those guys. Trammell, Fraley, Lewis and White are all flawed in various ways. Matt Brash and DeLoach aren't the highest rated prospects but have potential. As much as I'd love something like that to happen, I feel like that trade proposal would be mostly just throwing a bunch of quantity in order to get quality.

What do you guys think about Seiya Suzuki?

His numbers in Japan have been incredible, but off the top of my head the only Japanese players who were able to replicate success at the plate are Ohtani, Ichiro at Matsui.

Kind of hard to find any good scouting reports on him. I feel like going after him would be essentially a lottery ticket. If the Mariners really do want to contend in 2022, I feel like they need to focus more on guys with a proven track record at the MLB level.

I pose this as a truly open ended question as I have no idea if it's a good idea to go after him or not.

Also happy Thanksgiving ya'll.

We've all been suffering with the Mariners for quite some time and there isn't another group of people I'd rather suffer through it with.

You nailed it. I see both sides to signing him and not signing him. If the predicted $11M per year price is right, then I would go for it. I said it before, he reminds me of the Japanese version of Tyler O'Niell. Not sure if it is an early version of Tyler or a current version. At this point, I am all for adding anything with a chance to make us better and I think he gives us that.

one point...the owners..do not have a product...without....the players...

free agent..at 28.....is fair..or..after 4 years..of team service...at..the MLB..lvl..this is right.....(there is a diff..between.collage..picks and HS..or international)

owners do not care...what is right....and fair...they just...want money..

i think i side..with the owners..on international...draft....i ..dont..want..one....yet...kik the can..down the road..on that one..

I highly doubt it is enough for that deal but the with the flaws of the prospects that is one thing the A’s are usually good at. Subtract Chapman from that deal and sign Story or Bryant and then the M’s could put Marte in that deal and I think that would be enough IMO. But I did say that is my pie in the sky for off season.

lets solve some other prob ..before we mess...with basic structure....that has always been....lets deal..with..real..money..and player..issues

i do not want a change in the draft..sys...i would cave..on the rest...or meet them..1/2..way..too start.....

but..the owners..only want...money.....more...and...more..

.no...you must deal...
