Actually, he covered whoever lined up across from him. For my money, he was the best cover guy ever. He didn't even try to tackle, unless it was his guy and he actually caught the ball. No way in hell he was risking injury by throwing a heavy shoulder at anybody...ever

Yeah you can't be effective when playing from behind. When down by 14 with an awful defense, running the ball is not an option.
