Now, if you want to get a 3rd team like Portland involved you might have something.

Portland gets Love + a 1st from Cleveland
Philly gets Sexton + Covington + salary filler from Portland
Cleveland gets Simmons

Sexton + Covington would be an acceptable haul IMO
Covingtons time as an elite trade chip is over. Adding him as an expiring would have to be pretty underwhelming for the sixers I have to think.

Man, I would be underwhelmed if I the Sixers did a deal with Portland involved and they don’t get McCollum or Dame. I know Dame is a pipe dream but I already know Covington’s limitations. He is over rated as a defender. He’s a great help defender and plays passing lanes well. But he leaves much to be desired as an on the ball defender. He’s also an unreliable and streaky three point shooter. One night he’ll be 4-9 from deep and the next night he’ll be 2-11.

Unfortunately, because of how bad things have gotten between Simmons and the Sixers, underwhelming may be what the Sixers have to settle for.

Yes but every night Simmons is 0-0 from deep

They can't start the season with Simmons on the roster.

They just can't.

Love is not enough better than Niang or Drummond to justify a spot on the roster for the 6ers at $30 million.

Niang is a high quality role player. And since only 2 of Love, Harris, Embiid, Drummond, Niang can play at a time, it makes no sense for the 6ers to get Love.

The 4 and 5 positions are where they have their best players and their best depth.
Love fits better than Drummond. He can shoot 3's.....

I disagree. Simmons has stepped all over his reputation and has over played his hand. He’s acted like he’s Brow or Harden and he’s just not that guy. Unlike those guys he also has 4 years left on his deal. It would be a different story if his plan was to show up and be a distraction. He’s gonna stay away. The team can wait it out until they get a deal that will work.

They just can't.

Yeah, that could get ugly and really drag the team down. Not to mention wasting another year of Embiid's prime.

Sure they can. Simmons has fucked this up. First he blames Doc and Embiid who had his back all year but couldn’t offer bullshit at a presser after they were the number 1 seed upset and eliminated. Most recently, Simmons wants to throw a fan base under the bus that gave him standing ovations and support at home playoff games when he took to the line. Simmons has shown the world he’s an asshole. He can sit forever as far as I’m concerned and the fanbase will support that move from Morey and Brand waiting him out. They won’t support an underwhelming deal. Low key…this fan base now wants scorched earth. They would delight in Ben Simmons rotting in obscurity.

No, they can't.

It would be a major distraction in the lockerroom.

I would still love Simmons on the Wolves, I can't think of a better fit. Wolves have scoring ability all over the floor, and none of it needs to hang out in the paint, which would allow Simmons to maximize his only scoring skill. Plenty of shooters could help keep the paint from being congested. On the other side, I fully believe adding Simmons completely changes the view of KAT on defense. KAT is not good at defense by any stretch, but he has also never had a guy who excelled at point-of-attack defense. Rubio excels at playing the passing lanes and Russell enjoys watching his guy blow by him almost as much as he loves contested faded aways from just inside the 3 point line.

Simmons to the Wolves is almost exactly what they need, but I don't see that they have what it takes to get it done, not while they insist on keeping complete trash because he is KAT's best friend. Perhaps it is more likely now that the guy that let the Warriors sodomize him in his hunt for bad defense is gone?

You’re taking about a 15 minutes a night position. At 30 million dollars a year. Kevin Love has no value to the Philadelphia Sixers. In fact, I would say he has negative value. If I’m Morey and i am working with Sexton Markk and picks from the Cavs, if I have to take Love back then I want Garland over Sexton, add Okora and now it’s 2 picks instead of one.

They aren't giving up Garland and the Sixers are really in no position to demand him.

Simmons has to go. If you get Sexton, Love and a few 1st rounders you do that.

If he were around the facility you’d be right. But it will be out of sight out of mind. If I’m Harris and Embiid on press day, I tell the media before they ask. Don’t ask us about Ben Simmons. He doesn’t want to be here. He’s not a part of us. You can ask about him but we aren’t talking. Go chase that story somewhere else. It’s not what we’re about. Dude quit on us. Go talk to him. We have nothing to say. Nip that shit in the bud immediately.

There’s likely better than that on the table with the Kings and maybe Denver. Kevin Love has negative value to the Sixers. He would get 7-8 minutes a night now that they’re already committed to Drummond as a back up 5.

The only piece on the Wolves I have any value for is Edwards. I want nothing to do with D’Angelo Russell. The Wolves need a third team in order to get Simmons.

I agree, nobody should want Russell, I just dream of the day he is gone. I think Beverly/Beasley and some combination of McDaniels or future picks could get it done. That allows the 76ers to retain at least some of the perimeter D and add 2 to 3 good 3 point shooters to unclog the paint for Embiid.

I would rather give up future picks than McDaniels myself.

No he doesn’t.

Neither fit particularly well, as both have skill sets that limit them to being back ups for the 2 best players on the team.
