I was all for trading Graveman (and still am) but this seems like a really bad trade. You swapped Montero for a guy who has equally bad numbers and got a guy not in a position of need that is barely hitting over .200. When I said I was in favor of trading Graveman I was thinking of getting prospect(s) in return, not this. The fact they traded him to Houston is just an added punch in the nuts. You don't aid your division rivals in a pennant race if you're also in the hunt. We'll see what those other multiple trades bring (if they even happen) but this trade on its own is bad.

I'm guessing there is more to this "trade" that's maybe gonna toshow up in the next couple days. I can't believe Dipoto would do something like this. I mean Graveman was our go to guy and it sounds like Toro is basically worthless for the M's. If this is Dipoto's way of doing things, fire his ass along with his sidekick. But I still think there's more to this. JD is not that stupid....is he? (knock on wood).

He says this will lead to more moves this week which means someone wants Toro or a guy on the team that Toro will replace...Torrens? Minor Leaguer infielder? We shall see.

Watch if somehow this team slide into one of the WC spot to only be eliminated by the Astros with Graveman closing it out each of their losses. Baseball do have a way of writing these kind of things.

Sure Graveman was great, but don't let recency bias cloud the fact that the goal of this team is to build a team that competes for years to come, not just a flash in the pan season, hoping one of the worst hitting lineups and a rotation with 4 starting pitchers can make a miracle happen.

Leverage a closer who's a FA in months when you can. Plus Paul Sewald has been as good as Graveman.
