down goes team usa
Should i watch this or Neymar vs Messi?
I hope you picked soccer
Was a mixture of both. They looked like a team playing together for the first time. That and your opponent hitting 20 threes is a recipe for disaster. These exhibition games are needed
Yeah, no reason to panic.
However, I think the format USA basketball uses to select teams is in need of drastic overhaul.
International competition is too good these days to just show up with a random collection of NBA all stars and expect to roll over the field.
Josh Okogie is simply a winner
So is Heat legend Gabe Vincent
This the list of the 57 players they had to choose the 12 players from. What would you like to see them do different? I think they had a nice collection of role players with stars here. The only thing I think this group is lacking is a true shooter. Duncan or Joe Harris should have been selected.

But many of the stars WANT to play in the Olympics. You gonna turn down KD when he says he wants on the team?I would like to see them have tryouts for team USA and it be a salaried position. And that the players that play for team USA not play in another league.
Get a bunch of fringe NBA type players and assemble a team that fits together and practices together all year. Their season could run from like January/February through whatever international tournament.
They can play exhibitions against NBA teams, overseas against international pro teams, etc.
There might be some transition from year to year, but it won’t matter so much because they will practice and play together.
The problem is that these teams lack continuity and cohesiveness. So take a group of lesser players and build a culture. I think the end result would end up being more consistent than what we see now. And it wouldn’t be a burden on the NBA stars to play internationally.
Has the team who just beat the US been constructed like that? They had 4 NBA players, I believe, and doubt they've been practicing too long.I would like to see them have tryouts for team USA and it be a salaried position. And that the players that play for team USA not play in another league.

Also, you gonna turn down an elite talent who WANTS to play?
More cohesive? Sure. But hard to buy the most cohesive group of Americans who had never been in the NBA would be better than what we are sending because we lost a game that didn't even count. If I understood what I've heard and read about it correctly, the answer is...kind of.
A lot of them have players who have been on the National Team for years and the NBA guys top off the roster. Plus, a lot of foreign born NBA players will play for their National teams in the off-season (the Gasol's did that with Spain for many years if memory serves).
So you end up with a team that has a core group of players who have been playing together a lot...then you add 2-4 NBA players who have been competing with their National teams in the NBA off-season. Makes for a more cohesive team.
and his plan also consists of guys who wouldn't even sniff the NBA. At least when they sent college kids those were NBA level players. I do think his plan might have worked back then....but not when other teams are bringing in NBA talent. That's what would make going to a plan like tlance's kind of difficult. Players seem to like the idea of being able to win a gold medal and fans have gotten used to the idea of NBA players going. It would be really difficult to put that particular genie back in the bottle.
