I am in a dynasty league that has 10 teams. It is a PPR setup. We start 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 RB/WR, 3 WR, 1 RB/WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 DL, 2 LB, and 1 DB.

Essentially, if you have 3 good RB's you start 3 RB's and 3 WR's, but you have flexibility if you are weak at RB, you have flex options. I was lucky and happened to win last season going from worst to first, therefore I have the last pick in the draft. We draft 10 rounds.

Every team gets to keep 14 players ( no restrictions on what positions ). We are allowed to keep 18 players during the offseason for trade purposes, but have to drop 4 players prior to draft to get down to 14.

The way the league is set up, the rookie RB's typically go early with a WR or two mixed in the 1st round and maybe a rookie QB. I'm sure Kyle Pitts will probably go before my pick as well since everyone is looking for good TE's in this league since you can potentially start 2 during bye weeks, etc.

I expect the top 5 rookie RB's to be gone before my pick ( Harris, Etienne, Carter, Williams, and Sermon ), as well as Chase and Pitts and possibly Lawrence. I am looking for advise for my 1st round pick. The highest rated RB available besides the rookies is Tevin Coleman. The top QB's are Daniel Jones, Cousins, and Goff. The top WR's are Fuller, Kirk and Agholor. There are no TE's worth a 1st round pick outside of Pitts. Here is my roster:

Jalen Hurts
QB-PHI
RB
David Montgomery
RB-CHI
WR
D.J. Chark
WR-JAX
WR
Calvin Ridley
WR-ATL
WR
Robert Woods
WR-LAR
TE
Darren Waller
TE-LV
RW
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
RB-KC
RWT
Chase Edmonds
RB-ARI
QB
Baker Mayfield
QB-CLE
RB
Ronald Jones
RB-TB
RB
Zack Moss
RB-BUF
WR
Darnell Mooney
WR-CHI
WR
Henry Ruggs
WR-LV
TE
Tyler Higbee
TE-LAR
RWT
Malcolm Brown
RB-MIA
Active: 8
Reserve: 7
Chase Young
DL,ER-WAS
LB
Patrick Queen
LB,ER-BAL
ERDBDB
Marlon Humphrey
DB-BAL
Res

I am going to drop Mooney, Ruggs, Queen and Humphrey if I don't make anymore trades. I am keeping Brown just because of the premium on RB's in this league. Going up against teams with 3 good RB's is tough if you have to start a 4th WR or a 2nd TE. LB's are also a premium in the league because you start 2, but don't think I will use my 1st on a LB.

Thoughts?

Devonta Smith or Will Fuller would be in my sights.

Let the other owners worry about RBs, fire up 4 or 5 WRs, this is PPR. Once you get beyond the top 10-12 RBs, all the WRs outscore the RBBC guys.

What are your expectations for Smith, because honestly, I'm not very high on him. Also, I like Fuller, but I don't like him in Miami with Tua.

Smith is a gamble, but where your picking who isn’t? He does look likely to start. I like Bateman but not so much with Jackson. Maybe see if someone will trade you a 2022 first for your pick If you don’t care for who is available.

I wish I could.

trading future first rounders require additional money from both teams trading just in case one of the owners orphans the team leaving the future owner without that 1st round pick.

it’s only $10 per team to do it, but the owners aren’t interested in doing that type of trade.

If i were u based on what you think will happen…id take fields or lance.

hurts could be lamar jackson or benched.

Baker …hasnt been stellar for fantasy. Still growing, but another qb could help.

Also fuller has largely been hype and disappointment, until a stretch this yearzz

Yeah, was debating about the other rookie QB’s. Fields and Lance are about a coin flip to me.

your thoughts on the two?

well I can say that in our dynasty league, i targeted fields over lance. I cant fault you if you like lance. His rushing makes him tantalizing, as does shanahan. One of the biggest trades in nfl history, better hope it works. I cant say im super confident fields outproduces lance, but yeah im on team fields

But im alot higher on fields than most it seems. Real life and fantasy.

i on top of that, may snag daniel jones in the draft too.

I think Lance has a bigger boom, but I think Fields has a lesser bust (and waiting period).

QB would be my choice.

Not sure about his talent, but I bet he puts up plenty of FF points. Jets be throwing a lot for one thing and he’ll use his legs to run for yards a lot IMO.

Hurts is not Lamar Jackson.

He might not make it through the season with a starting job.

Fields and Lance are both great bets. Would go Lance first, Fields 2nd, but both worth investing in. Both have the upside to high level assets in a 10 team league for a long time.

Hurts does not.

Not saying he is lamar. Saying he offers that upside with his rushing. He may not make it through the season, i actually said he may be benched. But for fantasy he has a decent floor and massive upside as long as he starts.

Lance is riskier than fields. He ran alot in college and wasnt throwing a ton. Heck in his “showcase” game this year he struggled.

I wasn’t disagreeing with you overall.

Just pointing out that in a 10 team dynasty league, Hurts is not a good option.

He will have some big fantasy lines I am sure, but I am betting he will be too inconsistent to start. Even with the rushing stats.

Eh i want shares tbh. I dont think we disagree neccessarily. But i want shares. Heck even even they ditch him after this year… i expect a solid floor rushing. But just on matchups and dual threat upside.

But to piggyback. I want other options. Which is why i suggested taking fields, and following up with possibly daniel
Jones. None thrill you, but if hurts face plants you have some options.

Fields does thrill me though

Think he will be a very good fantasy QB

Me too. Very much so. I think hurts can excel, in a specific system. Lincoln riley did take him to another level, it wasnt totally fools gold

He can’t see the field.

Once the scout is out and defenses have enough tape to adjust, his carriage turns back into a pumpkin.

Ehhhhh i semi disagree. He has weak spots for sure. But his vision was markedly better. I do think they move on from him. He is limited as a passer, but i think hes adequate when combined with his rushing. To me, its one of the more interesting story lines this year.
