Kemba's time in Boston can only be looked at as a disappointment. Injured too often and he did have some poor playoff performances.
Yep.

I think a lot of folks out there, and more than a couple of posters in this forum, still think "Kemba from Charlotte" when they consider Walker and his value.

Kemba ain't that same dude anymore.

Embiid wouldn't have made first team by the voting system regardless of position either. He was 6th in total voting points:

Giannis: 500
Jokic: 498
Curry: 496
Doncic: 402
Lillard: 372
Embiid: 352

5 pts for a 1st team vote, 3 pts for a 2nd team vote, 1 pt for a 3rd team vote. It's a media vote, just as flawed as the MVP vote that you're basing the snub on. 100 members of the media voted, and 99 voted for Jokic as first team, with 28 voting for Embiid as first team. Clearly, there were voters that had both on the first team.
And those numbers represent votes inside of the existing system. It’s telling that 28 voters abandoned the tradition.

Nah, the knees are fucked up but in a few years he might be able to have a career resurgence kind of like Rose maybe?

Only reason I mentioned him was on PTI yesterday they said Carlisle's now at the top of list for coaching candidates.
Boston needs to be all over that based on him being a former player for the Celtics...

A little surprised Dallas is letting him go.....not his fault the Mavs couldn't land really good FA's.

It’s the Luca show and apparently he wanted him gone.

Only because the ballot is stuck on 1 center.

If it were positionless, Embiid would be 1st team.

All rookie 1st team is nothing but point guards and wings. This isn’t so hard. The 5 players who had the best individual seasons should be first team. If that is 5 guards or 5 centers, so be it.

After all, player contracts are tied to all NBA incentives. So it really is foolish to tie that to an antiquated concept of position that really doesn’t matter anymore.

Clearly, as at least 27 people voted for both Embiid and Jokic as first team, there is no voting restriction. They may choose by position for the final teams, but the voting is not regulated as such. If the media felt as you do, they could vote all one position if they liked.

Maybe Boston really likes Moses Brown?

I guess that is the only explanation that makes sense.

I had never heard of him before this trade, but his stats are promising. He's more than just a throw-in IMO.

I mentioned that in the Celtics thread. I was wondering if they can turn around and trade him? Or do they need to keep him for a certain amount of time?

I know of at least 1 team out west that would likely be interested.

I doubt they flip him to LA. Celtics have no use for Kuzma or KCP; too expensive for depth players behind Tatum and Brown. Schroder might be of interest to them, but then they need Harrell to opt in to match salaries.

Still liked him better than than that flat Earther Kyrie. But it was time for Kemba to leave Boston.

I'd be all for that. Don't remember what years he played in Boston. But I'm pretty sure he was on one of their title teams.

kcp would be fine. He’s an expiring contract that replaces Fournier

He is 19 years old and is a very solid rebounder. I don’t know if he can develop a game away from the basket but he shoots free throws pretty well so there might be promise there. You can’t teach 7 ft and he will fill out I’m sure.

Yeah, they have to get a little creative to get it done. The question would be how creative they have to get and if they're willing to do it. On paper, if it could be done, he could certainly help.

Not even if the player in question is kinda shot?

The C's did everything they could to try to get and keep Kemba healthy last season... he still wasn't healthy for the playoffs.

Yes. Even then.

When you have to attach assets to a player in order to dump them, you aren’t using those assets to make your team better.

You almost never see actual contenders make those types of moves unless strictly to clear cap space to sign another star.

this doesn’t even create enough money to sign Fournier and stay below the tax
