I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure they can trade him at least as soon as their deal with OKC is finalized.

It is free agent signees who can’t be dealt right away.
I thought you had a window. But the trade isn’t final yet cause you gotta wait foe the new league year, right?

Why would Boston want to trade Horford? He gives them a big who played well for them previously and a guy who can rebound, defend, pass, and score 13 or so ppg.

2 players in the top 5 would set you guys up pretty good.....what are your teams needs?
Needs? Everything lol. I truly think SGA is going to be a superstar and that is certainly what the franchise is betting on. Lugentz Dort is an all NBA defender in the making and is the 2nd piece. Maledon the PG truly reminds me of a very young Tony Parker, doubtful he gets that good but something close to that would be pretty good. I think Bazley is a 6th man on a really good team. We have more pieces than most think, but we need a lot still. Any of the top 5 in the draft really help this team.

Boston needs to nail this coaching hire.....that may be the biggest thing this offseason for them.

Mobley is really good and I think he'd be a good fit on OKC.

I don’t think so.

But even then, they could still achieve another deal by bringing more teams in.

How the hell did Al Horford all of a sudden become a non-terrible contract?

He is not expiring. He becomes a FA same year as Kemba.

That is an awful lot to give when swapping well past prime players.

Not sure how OKC keeps pulling this same trade off. Crazy.
Are both of you aware that a significant portion of Horford's final year is non-guaranteed?

Kemba's contract is a lot worse than Horford's... it's a big difference.

No, did not realize that.

Still though, when a team that wants to be a contender starts shedding contracts, that is never a good thing.

That was the beginning of the end for Houston when they were so desperate to move Chris Paul.

Not even if the player in question is kinda shot?

The C's did everything they could to try to get and keep Kemba healthy last season... he still wasn't healthy for the playoffs.

Who you want as the Celtics next HC? Would R. Carlisle be a good fit?

He plays defense (not as good as he once did, but he's still solid), rebounds, passes, and can hit shots from the perimeter (36% last season) while scoring 13-15ppg. I really wanted him on the Lakers before this trade went down because he'd fit like a glove with AD and James. And 27 million isn't crazy crazy money.

I think the C's are gonna go with a black coach.

well they aren’t serious about winning after this trade

might as well throw some useless virtue signaling in until they are

Carlisle is the obvious hire

From a health standpoint, Kemba is unreliable (at best) at this point.

That fact is a big part of the equation... can't be ignored.

Only reason I mentioned him was on PTI yesterday they said Carlisle's now at the top of list for coaching candidates.

Meh.

Both Tatum and Brown are on the progressive, "SJW" side of things... it'll tickle that side of their brains.

Beyond that, I think a lot of guys can do a decent job as HC... other considererations are just as important.

Kemba's time in Boston can only be looked at as a disappointment. Injured too often and he did have some poor playoff performances.

then duck em

Carlisle is easily the best coach out there. Guys like him are not usually available
